Title: Anyone have these hudson/bose speakers in your collection?
Post by: GameFreak on July 06, 2011, 05:12:41 AM
I have a handful of games with the little flyer stuffed in the manual. Im sure you have seen it. I have never seen these speakers on Ebay ever. Has anyone added these to their collection?? How do they sound?
I'll bet they were REALLY expensive back in the day. I think the only games that I have that have the Bose flyer in them are CD games probably to promote the great game music through good speakers.

I have them ^_^
Found them on yahoo one day. The one and only time i ever saw them in auction.
The sound is really cool, although the subwoofer isn't that powerful.
As far i could figure out it is similar to the Bose Acoustimass 3 set. Only difference is the Hudson label on the satellites cover.

that's so funny cause I just found this same flyer in my Art of Fighting ACD and I thought wow I had no idea even back in the early 90s this Bose sound system already existed!

The (shitty) Acoustimass series goes back to at least...1986, I think. Possibly earlier.

They had a bunch of different models in the acoustimass series, even the acoustimass 3 had a few different generations.
I first saw this type of subwoofer somewhere in the 90s.

Those look sweet.  They remind me of the Sega-branded speakers that they had for the Genesis.  I wish I had those as well as these...

Cool sega speakers.

I guess NEC did have some other speakers....The ones that come with the monitor with built in PC-engine (i forget the model name), and also the karaoke amplifier had a couple speakers. Im sure over all these years they all sound like krap by now anyway.
I actually want that NEC amplifier if I can find one at a fair price. I think it looks cool sitting under the IFU.

Up there I insulted Bose, which they certainly deserve, but I should clarify that the Acoustimass series, as bad as it is, is way way better that those Genesis speakers, or the ones I used to have with NEC branding from one of their 90s PCs.

Sure, but the Sega speakers were a free giveaway with the purchase of 3 games.  I wouldn't expect them to be good.

I hook my old crap up to a stereo system from 1984.  Screw little speakers.  I want the walls rattling.

Hehehee!

NEC actually sold an accessory for the karaoke amplifier. It was a (gold trim...LOL) microphone. I never saw any info, pics, or auctions about it except in link. If you look at the 3rd picture down you can see the microphone box, and the 4th picture down actually shows the microphone. Note the same exact color scheme on the amp box and the mic box.
That would be cool. Now that is "rare"!

You should try the Companion 5. If you go on a rant as to why they suck I can clarify this line of reasoning.
