Title: Two quick questions about arcade card, and fatal fury
Post by: MotherGunner on September 22, 2005, 09:29:59 AM
Hi all please exuse my noobness...

1.  Can you use an Arcade Card Pro on a Duo-r?  (I know about the Duo card but I may also be getting a TG-CD setup later, and I don't want to buy another card.  This way I can use the Pro on both.)

2.  Which game is better  Fatal Fury 2 or Special?  Please elaborate.

Thanks!

No, you must have the Duo card. Pro card is only for the PCE/coregrafx with CD unit (briefcase).

I would go for the Fatal Fury Special. It's the best SNK port on the PCE, and it has better loading time than FF2.

You have it mixed up. Arcade Card Pro can be used on all Japanese PCE consoles while Arcade Card Duo can only be used for PCE Duo systems only.

Special, no question about it. Fatal Fury Special is just Fatal Fury 2 with the ability to play as the boss characters, so taking Fatal Fury 2 over Special
is a bit silly  .

You can't use any Arcade Card on a TG16-CD set up since it's Japanese and TG-16 can't play Japanese HuCards, nor can PCE systems play American HuCards. You could buy a converter to use the Arcade Card Pro or get your TG16+CD modded by people such as D-Lite to play your Arcade Card Pro, along with Japanese HuCards in general of course.

Wait, not all japanese pce consoles. If you have the coregrafx + Super CD unit then you must use the Duo card.

Defintely get a the region modded TG16. Much cheaper than buying a PCE converter and a Arcade Pro card.

Nope. The AC Pro is an AC Duo with a Super System BIOS included -- and exactly as you can boot a Super CD-ROM with a Super System Card (there's no point of course, but it's possible), you can perfectly boot a Super CD-ROM with an AC Pro.

Seems like a waste of money to use a Pro card on a coregrafx w/ SCD if you cant play Arcade games, and SCD unit already has super system card 3.0 built-in.

Sorry guys I should have given more info.  I have a Duo-R coming from D-Lite with all the goodies.  However, I was still considering getting a US TG 16 CD (modded).

I wanted to be able to only own one card.   I know that the AC Pro would be redundant on the Duo-R, however, would it still work?  I take it from previous comments that it would.  But I'd be killing two birds with one stone since I could later use it on my TG-CD.

Thanks

No way around it. To play Fatal Fury Special on a DuoR you need the Arcade Duo card. If you want to play it on the TG16+CD you need the Arcade Pro card (with a pce converter if your TG16 doesn't have a region switch).

Ok, I guess I'll have to buy both the AC Duo and AC pro.  Thanks again

You should only have to buy the Arcade Card Pro if you need one.

Got it, so even though it is redundant to use an AC Pro on a Duo-r, it will still work?

Thanks

I don't see how it is redundant if it works as fine as a Arcade Card Duo. The problem with Arcade Card Pros is that they can be fairly more expensive than the Duo versions.

Its redundant because the Duo-r system already has the extra memory that the Pro brings, hence the need for a duo card.

But as long as I can also use a Pro on my Duo, that's fine.  I don't mind spending the extra money.

2.  Which game is better  Fatal Fury 2 or Special?  Please elaborate.
Thanks!

Get (Fatal Fury Special) it has a leanring curve but once you master it's.. well worth it.

I have it on my NeoGeo and i do perfer it more to 2.

Another nice bonus about FFS is get to the end without continueing and you can fight Ryo from AOF.

Yea,I chose the Arcade Card Pro to use.It worked best for its broader use range. The Duo Arcade card lets you only use Duo based hardware and the Super Cd Rom 2 system, where as the Pro doesnt care, its ready for anything. Also the arcade Card Pro looks cooler then the Duo Card. Its the largest hu-card I have ever seen.

Yup still i do it the cheap way by useing the UniBios 2.1.

Still useing Ryo makes the game too easy.
