I will have a SuperGrafx in a few days and am looking to pick up a few Super HuCards, I will have Ghouls N Ghosts with it, But am considering Aldynes and Darius Plus.
Anyone know roughly the going rates for these games? Also what SuperGrafx advantages does Darius Plus have over playing it in a regular PC Engine?

What I paid for my complete copies:
1. Daimakaimura 1,000yen
2. 1941 8,000yen
3. Aldynes 3,000yen
4. Granzort 500yen
5. Battle Ace 50yen
Darius Plus/Alpha just dumps half the sprites in the 2nd background, so it's flicker free.

If I can find Battle Ace cheap I'll definitely pick it up. Is it worth picking up Darius Plus or should I just skip it? Also how is Aldynes?

Aldynes is a fantastic shooter! Here is a Duomozov review:

If you enjoy the Darius games I'd go for getting Darius Plus.
...Good luck getting 1941. I haven't found a good deal on it yet as it goes for a lot of $$. Get Daimakumura instead. Best home conversion of the arcade classic available on 16-Bit platforms.

Aldynes is generally solid, but a few issues. A lot of the stages are just the same background on loop
for 2 minutes or so. Aldynes Stage 1 is one of the most bland backgrounds in any shooter I've ever played.
The later levels are cool, but it's a punishing game and you'll play the first level over and over again.
It's certainly the best of the SGX exclusive games, but it could have been so much more if it had been an
SGX CD-ROM game as opposed to a HuCard.

Daimakumura is coming with the system so I don't have to worry about that.

Aldynes is a decent shooter and worth picking up. You should be able to find a complete copy for around $45 or so.

With these prices I wish I lived in Japan ;-) In the UK I paid complete/boxed:
1. Daimakaimura £28.00
2. 1941 £95.00
3. Aldynes £40.00
4. Granzort £12.00
5. Battle Ace £8.00

Is Granzort decent?

I thought it was good fun. I like begin able to switch between the different robots. It wasn't terribly difficult once I got the hang of it either.

From what I've seen UK game prices are truly a joke. Possibly the worst of the world, prices are doubled, sometimes tripled, just because it's a Japanese version game.

I personally think Darius Plus is well worth picking up. I like to nitpick, and flicker in a video game makes me crazy so a flicker free version of Darius makes the purchase worth it alone. I also happen to really dig the chiptune take on the Darius soundtrack.

Is that right? I thought it would be much more.

It's a fairly common game to be honest. Even Super Potato only charges like 3,000 for it, and they are
usually the most expensive in Japan. 1941 is really the only one that's slightly valuable, but that was more
due to it being the only home port of the game for a long time then actual rarity. Price has been dropping on it
fairly steadily.

lol, i can't write what I have payed for my 1941.

So of SuperGrafx specific games I should really only go for Aldynes (I already have Daimakamura) and then Darius Plus?

I sold a copy of GnG SGX to Mike Helgeson a few years back for $2. It was the copy that had the vultures in stage 1 that were all glitched out, but otherwise the game was fine.

Thanks, now it's just a matter of finding them at those prices.

no you get them all or you suck! GET THEM ALL.

Haven't played Aldynes yet, but hoping to someday find a decent deal on it. Darius Plus is a good, yet challenging game. It would be a good place holder until you get your hand on Aldynes. Though there are many other and better shmups to consider as well.

Aldynes is cheap, or at least it was on Yahoo.jp like 6 months ago.
I got a sealed one for 5 money, and opened it up immediately!
