wow, this really is crappy news.  I had just dug out a bunch of old school projects to mess around with last night using Mono (http://mono-framework.com/Start) in Mint.

I half remember C#, but am totally clueless when it comes to C++ and before.  Time to self teach during my free time.......

I was sorry to hear about Dennis Ritchie, but I guess he led a full life. Here's to someone who actually did influence modern computing.

That has to be the most popular programming book ever. It's been out for decades, and people are still buying it and finding it useful.

They publish new editions.  I have an edition from 2004 I think. 

It really is a sweet book.

It just gets updated with the new standards afaik. Believe it or not... I've never actually read it. :)

I learned C from another book, and the rest is experience. :)

C++ is alright depending what you are doing.

Then you get the gimps that use it and make a mess of all of its features because they are n00b
