Title: Any case mods?
Post by: theoakwoody on September 29, 2005, 03:16:21 AM
I've never done a case mod myself but I think that the turbo grafx would be a cool system to do.  I did a search on this board and didn't see anything on this topic so I thought I'd ask if anyone here has modding the casing to their system.  I mean I read about how ugly and huge the tg16 is compared to the pc engine so why not put it in a smaller case. Another idea I had was to incorporate a turbotap into the system.  I also think there's a lot of cool things that could be done with the cd attachment.  It's totally pointless but why not make a tg16 set to look exactly like the pc engine/cd attachment setup except in black.

I myself have wondered if anyone has modded their case with an old broken duo, or tg-16 with cd attachment.

Would be sweet! :D

Yeah five-players built into the system wouldn't be such a bad idea...

You could try doing soem top mounted Colored led low noise fans on some of the Duos, youd have to cut plastic out to give a proper airway and rig a power supply for it.Also soem kind of internal out audio like how jamma arcade boards can do,for self powered stereo sound output.
A long time ago,I took one of the Capcom arcade fighter sticks for Genesis, the white one,and a 3DO control pad board with the earphone audio output, and modded it into the joystick, and drilled a area on each side for 2 small audio speakers, and placed grills over those areas to keep from damaging the speakers.I had it trimmed out real nice and clean, and had made a 3DO logo using a cardboard logo from a game box, lamenated, and supergluded to the center of the joystick.ALl in all it was very nice, and I sold it to a game store owner in Hot Springs, who gave me a nice amount for it,thinking it was official. That was one of the best joystick mod jobs I have ever done.

I think the problem is that it is VERY risky if you mess up.  But if anyone can pull if off it would be D-lite!

Hey D, while you're at it, you should also try to install a better LCD screen in a TE, like the top one on a Nintendo DS....

Or how about a wireless controller?
