Sell Turrican, its pointless.I like the sequels, but the first,on Turbo included, has a stupid ending. You get a buck rogers flash gorden type rocket ship and escape.big woop, and the game isnt even fun.Wasted time.

I like Turrican as well.  Though I've only played it with the invincibility code...

Get Neutopia 2.  I like that one much better than the first, though I did like the first a lot.  Blazing Lazers and SideArms are also great shooters that you should check out.

Legendary Axe I & II. Mandatory. The "sequel" will probably have more initial appeal, but the the "original" rocks hard as well.

Devil's Crush, if you like Time Cruise and want some more pinball.

Bloody Wolf, if you want to save the president of the U.S. (the goal of any worthwhile Data East game).

Air Zonk if you like the Bonk universe and want one of the cutest horizontal cute-em-ups  (shooter).

If you dig the old-skool SSI Dungeons & Dragons games, then definitely get Order of the Griffon. It captures their spirit well, which is kool for a conversion to a console.  Trivia: Black_Tiger will probably be able to verify this, but I don't think OotG appeared on any other platform? At least I don't remember seeing it for the PC or C64.

Timeball, if you want to see a puzzle game that many folks loathe, but that I find enjoyable (seriously though, get other puzzle games first!).

and of course, don't forget TV Sports Basketball...while others have discarded this game as a throw-away, my friend and I have played it for 15 years and it has never lost its appeal..you just need to embrace its many faults. I really wish someone would update it on CD-rom with some improved features...alas...it also is "non-NBA Official"  which you can't get anymore these days...the players in the game are all the programmers themselves..:) No other sports game has kept our attention this consistently...maybe, just maybe, we are strange.  2nite, we will once again go head to head and I will strive to victory....

get a kisado adapter or get your TG16 or Duo region modded by D Lite. All the best Turbo games have already been listed in this thread. The Japanese side of TG16 is where the action's at.

I actually think you're not missing much when it comes to Japanese HuCards. They pretty much got most of the good HuCards out here even though there are some Japanese HuCard gems that didn't make it out here. CDs are a different story, on the other hand   .

I have a Turbo Duo and a PCE+CDROM2, but I still buy the USA released HuCards for various reasons: they're in English, better packaging, I collect them, and I love the style of NEC of America. But for the HuCards that were released out here but are extremely expensive, I'll just take the Japanese version in that case ;) .

That's the way i work it also.

If the U.S version to much then.. i pick the JPN one insted to save money.

Still when it comes to a few select, U.S hucards i rather play in english it's Neutpoia 1&2,Cadash,Military Madness etc.

Not too many shooters mentioned, but here are some good ones that come to mind:

Solider Blade
Final Soldier
Super Star Soldier
Gunhed/Blazing Lasers
Aero Blasters
Parodius
Tatsujin/Truxton

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones that I've been playing lately.

Speaking of expensive U.S hucards i won me a U.S Neutopia 2.

While i'm rather piss off over.... the bumping on it's price for wich i got to pay for it.

In the end i guess i had "no choice" since i wanted to play this game realy bad.

I swear getting U.S cards off,of ebay is starting to drive me nuts

I know the same feeling. When a rare game comes along you'll stop at nothing to have it. I paid ~$135 for Aleste 2 off Yahoo Japan and my limit was $80. I was angry at the closing price when I came to my senses, but I felt better when I recieved it. Aleste 2 for the MSX2+ computer. It came in mint condition with the box, 3x disks, manual, character booklet, and paper airplane templates! These templates are near-impossible to find. Yes, I know it's not a tg16 game, but Aleste 2 is my favorite game.

Tron, you maybe angry about the price now. But when you recieve it you'll realize it was worth every penny.

Well on domestic games some times i think it's crazy.

As for import games i can under stand why if it's priced high.

Pretty much when, collectors get into the hobby they ruin it for every body else.

Then again it's how much... your "willing to spend" and if you feel it was worth it.
I'm sure i will afther i recover for how much i spent on it.

It's insane how the price for AES carts are still ~$200-300 today. I want get Metal Slug 3 and MOTW but those can double its store price on ebay sometimes. MVS is cheaper, but like the art and packaging that comes with AES carts.

$132 for neutopia 2? even with the box complete that's hefty..mine is just the jewel case though.  However, it does make my MM3 and Bey Shadgate look more reasonable..:)

How do I quote everyon'e s posts in white like you guys do? I searched the FAQ's to no avail...thanks:)

God damn, that's the most I have ever seen Neutopia II go for, but I guess it does include the cardboard box. Last year that game was around the $50-100 range and it didn't seem to get to $100 very often.

Holy crap that was you that won  :)  . It ended at like $130 or so. Of course it was like new condition and complete. These games are getting really too expensive to me. I could understand maybe around $60 to $80 but over $100 is a dent in the pocket. I could get Neo Geo carts for these prices at times. I wonder what the turbo chip with the book and case only costs normally?

Oh well its part of collecting, but E-bay is getting rather stupid these days. I have seen some games for all systems sell for way more than they really should at times. Example: Dracula X for the SNES US, how is this game so rare that it goes to like $40 + cart only when you see like 7 or 10 sell all the time. Seems like things just sell at the prices they commonly sell for and then its in stone till it fazes out for a little bit.

Yeah it's crazy these days getting games for some old systems.

Still i can blame myself since i... took so long to get back into the TG16/PCE sceen.

The value for the systems and some of it's games have (double in value).

90's it was cheap then now on, ebay the value has jumped since collectors want it now.

Also there's the factor of, NEC making limted copys on some of those last domestic release.

Again it's all about supply vs demand :P

I miss the days when.... video games 'were consider entertainment and not some bodys retirement fund.

I swear collectors need to be kick out of the hobby.

I'm a collector, but just not a 100% full blown one. For American TG16 games, I usually make sure it has the jewel case and instructions but I don't care if it doesn't have the cardboard box or HuCard sleeve and for Japanese PCE games, I don't care about registration or spine cards or anything, just the jewel case and instructions, and well game of course too. Also for systems that sell games with cardboard boxes only, I usually just skip the box, like NES and SNES.

In my eyes, PC Engine in Japan kinda rivals the Famicom in cheapness of most software.

If I could track down Japanese versions of every PCE Namco title, I'd go for it. If I could recall, I've seen Barunba and Wonder Momo go for 5 in US $.

I suppose I kind of fit into that by accident. :( My personal goal is to get all the officially released PCE games.  That's a tall order, but it keeps me interested in the system.  Also, I'm trying to build a site like pcecp.com so I'll be using my collection to build up the site.

Unfortunately for me, I don't have as much time to play games as I used to.  Hell, I just started playing some PC games that I bought over 2 years ago!  I often find myself staring at my PCE games and just wishing I could just sit down and play them all... but there's always something that's "more important" to do.  Such is life I suppose.

I bought like 50 PCE games while I was in Tokyo for TGS and I've played a whopping 1 of those so far(Metamor Jupiter).

By accident, I've become the collector who buys stuff just to have but never plays.  That's the kind of collector even I dislike.

I know what you are talking about Akamichi where you just stare and the games and don't play them. I found a way to somewhat get over this is to just force yourself to play a game, any game and give it some good time too and try to enjoy everything about it. This seemed to work for me when I had that feeling.

Long as most games im looking for stay within 10-40 i should be Ok. I dont have any other system so i treat my Turbo Grafx 16 in the way people see their Xbox or PS2, which is in the now. I won't ever spend the money that games like Air Zonk or Neutopia 2 go for because thats waaay to much for me even if it was a brand new game
