Hello all...
I was checking a few games out for the TGCD/DUO and I came across Dynastic Hero. Looks pretty bad ass and went over to ebay and only found 1 for sale and its $500 used complete. Is that a ridiculous amount? How much is this game really worth/valued?
Thanks
-
O HELL NO, Its not worth $500. At the most i would pay is $200. Wait around for a deal to come up on here and yes sometimes on eBay.
Yes it is a great game. I love my copy dearly. MORE THEN MY FAMILY LOL
-
Unfortunately it seems to go for quite a bit although $500 is way overpriced.
You could also try getting a Japanese copy, which are a lot cheaper.
-
LOL... That's what I thought... Not as big of a dent but still up there
-
Sadly, I do not have the NA version, but I agree with the previous post that suggests getting the JP version: you can consult a FAQ for any parts of the game that stump you (for example, early in the game you have to play an instrument to unlock something...the language barrier may prevent you from taking notes on the proper sequence to play the notes).
It's been many years since I've played through the Japanese version, but I'm sure folks here could help you if you got stuck somewhere.
;)
It is a nice, enjoyable game.
-
The most I would pay is $50. Hmmm...maybe $60. Oh well, maybe I'll break down and get a $10 import.
-
The Sphinx in the Japanese Version could leave you stuck unless you have the patience to keep trying to answer correctly all 5 questions that he asks you in Kanji. I was never able to do that so I got the USA version. It is also available on the Wii Virtual Console which is the cheapest route.
-
Just buy a Genesis system and Wonderboy In Monster World for as low as $30 total. Dynastic Hero is just a port of that game with some of the characters and bosses changed, parallax removed and CD music and cinemas added.
If after completing it, you feel the need to pay $300 - $800 for the Turbo version, you'll at least have an idea of what you are buying. The PCE version is totally playable in Japanese and goes for $5 - $15.

how dare you suggest lack of OBEY!
but... you have a point.
I'd go for the Japanese version for PCE CD. It doesn't require the enemy.

The internets say the answers are II, I, Right, I, II. See? I told you it was good for more than just pr0n!
-
Well duh of course the answer is right. Why would it be wrong.
-
It's also on the Wii Virtual Console, if you're interested.
-
Back in the day i already played wonder boy on genesis before Dynastic Hero came out. When Dynastic Hero did come out I didn't really feel like I needed to play it again, so I skipped it. It doesn't bother me at all that I did. Just cause it's worth a lot of money now doesn't mean I want it or want to play it. Not saying it's a bad game, just that there were other games I would rather play on the pc-engine/duo

The Practical Gamer's Reality:
Its a nice game, but there are other things to play on this system. There is no need to spend $500 on any one title.

listen, signed insanity copies are worth like 200$.

I would love to own this game someday but can't spend as much as it fetches on ebay. another one of my favorites!

The answer choices are II, I, and Run (not Right).

Oops! I hope you grade on a curve.

a Yuna curve.

I didn't have much trouble answering the Sphinx questions, but I believe that I paid attention to the questions (which I couldn't read, but could recognize), and remembered which answers were right and wrong till I had it down. If I play through it again, I'll take some screen shots and make an answer guide.

That would help so many folks ;)
TANGENT: I want to hear the little tune that is played (by pressing I and Ii buttons) earlier in the game ;)
Anyone have a video of it?
-
i dont think i'll go the JP route... i usually stick with US titles and im also in the process of collecting them so i'll go toward that cause.
Im not a big fan of virtual console stuff on the wii.. I want to put money into a game that i'll own a hard copy... not having to worry about buying it again
-
One of my favorite games on the system, definitely worth the Wii Virtual Console purchase.
Especially since you can get a Wii, a Classic Controller, and the game for less than half of the price of the Turbo Duo game.
-
what happens 3-5 years down the road.. another system comes out... another virtual console.. and you have to buy it all over again. Yea it might be cheaper now.. but i'll add up over time
-
Definitely a good game. Dynastic Hero is just a re-badged Wonderboy in Monsterworld for the Duo, so if you've played that game, you know what DH is all about. That said, if you already own Monsterworld there isn't a great deal of incentive to pick up DH given its price, except the excellent redbook soundtrack. Beyond that, all the basic gameplay elements are identical, with only a handful of cosmetic differences, such as the aforementioned music and lack of parallax in some areas. What DH lacks in parallax it more than makes up for with its much more vibrant colors.
I couldn't recommend anyone spend $500 on this (or any other game) and keep a straight face, but it certainly isn't a bad game.
-
yea i definetly agree that $500 is just too insane for a game... maybe if itd be a 1/4 of that price i'll consider it but i dont see that $500 price realistic.. ebay on tg16 stuff is just very bloated and you see the same product over and over again not selling.
-
Yeah if you really want ti get a game like that, you just have to keep your eyes open all the time, check auctions daily, read forums, etc. Eventually you'll be able to pick it up for less than the inflated eBay value.
-
...or you can be like Opethian and check ebay with it spelled wrong. Find it at a $50 bin and score it for the price it was back in the day. I'm pretty sure that's what happend. :-k
-
hahah... i bet he was a happy SOB when/if he got it like that. I would be!
-
I wouldn't pay more than $60 for any game whether it be old or new. Thats just crazy talk there!
