Title: TenNoKoe / TurboGafx
Post by: TheMilford on December 22, 2011, 08:02:30 AM
Will the TenNoKoe 2 fit and work with the US Turbografx 16.

searched, check the compatibility guide... couldn't find conclusive info.

Thanks.

The connector pinout would work fine, but I don't know if the plastic shroud would physically fit.  It might need a little trimming.

Thanks.

Trimming on the TNK or the TG16?

Has anybody else tried this?

You could just get a chopsado and use that.

How would this help?

He's talking about the attachment not the card.

As I recall someone had posted a Tennokoe 2 on a US system a few months ago. He said some plastic needed to be trimmed, but otherwise worked fine. I think he even AV modded it so it doubled as an AV booster.

You're right.  Let me look for that.

Edit:  Here it is.

Cool! Thanks for finding that.

Nice mod that guy did. Tennokoe 2 banks are cheap... I might have to grab just for giggles.

I used a hack saw blade to trim off the tabs of the expansion connector and square it up. If you open the tennokoe 2 you will see what i mean. its not hard, just take your time.  If your gonna turn it into a booster you will need three caps. two 10uf 6.3v caps for the audio lines, and one 470uf 16v caps for the video line.  the positive leg of the caps goes towards your rca jacks if you put them in. The caps are used as a protection circuit and nothing more.  I have read that you can use a .1uf cap between the video and the ground for a better picture, but its debatable that it works. I tried it and it did not work for me.
Big thanks to Thesteve for the info on the caps.
