So I just ordered Dynastic Hero (Jpn version) as I'm not a rich man, and was wondering the differences found in this version against the US version. I've heard the language barrier isn't too steep.
-
I own both and haven't noticed any differences other than the obvious language barrier. The main problem that you will have is when you get to the Sphinx who asks 5 questions. Some other members have stated that you can look online for the answers but I'm fairly certain that the questions change each time you talk to him. I tried to get by him for a long time before I broke down and bought the USA version (although a lot members have been successful at passing him). If you get all 5 questions correct- you can proceed to the next area, 4 questions correct- he sends you outside of the room and you have to reenter (not a big set back), 3 questions correct- he sends you to the entrance of the pyramid and you have to go through it all over again, 2 questions correct- I don't remember specifically but when you answer too few questions correctly, the results are very bad...loss of gold and life.

I'll be sure to hv that by my side when the time comes. What area/how far is it in the game?

Towards the end...there are 2 areas after the Sphinx (the miniature zone and the final castle).

Each one has unique cinema art for the System Card warning screen.

Honestly, you shouldn't have ordered the Japanese Dynastic Hero, because you won't be able to get past the questioning cat. I think Wonderboy in Monster Land for the Sega Genesis should have been a better choice for you. I regret buying the jap version of DH.
-
If a dimbulb like me can manage to make it past the questions, it can't be that hard.

you know some people are terrified of moonspeak
they get panic attacks and cannot continue life...

Quoted for truth.

It's a fantastic game. He'll get his money's worth just playing it. Seriously.
The Japanese instruction booklet is cute, too :)

If this is such a problem for people, why doesn't someone just post a screen cap of each question with the correct answer selected? I could do it but I'm not far enough along in the game at the moment.

You only have about 10 seconds to answer each question before you are awarded an automatic wrong answer. Not really enough time to snap a photograph
-
^sounds like something you would need a friend to help you with
-
I've danced around the language barrier before, so I'm not too worried if the questions are the only major thing, I'll be fine. I got for about $15, so no major loss either way.
I've finished monster lair and dragons curse, but don't have, nor will I pay, the cashola for the us version.

It is available on the Wii Virtual Console for $6 to $8 (if you own a Wii).
-
Yea I know. Somethin bout the VC, much like emulators, that doesn't do it for me.
-
*but it would be good for comparing I guess

And the questions are swapped every time. good luck!

Can you people not even recognize a single character of Japanese, even if it's written down in front of you, and hold it in your memory for 10 seconds?
If someone makes a screen cap guide (emulators plus Photoshop, no problem) all you'll have to do is recognize the first character or two and find the right screen grab, make your selection, and go. If you are too f*cking retarded to make that work then I don't think you are smart enough to beat the game in any language.

Forgot to mention, the Jp version of Dynastic Hero has no paralax.
