Title: Any Local Meetups?
Post by: alexsduo on January 11, 2012, 07:08:53 AM
So, I was browsing the forum, trying to see if there are any meetup posts, i.e. about playing some games together...

But, alas, I did not find said things.

Anyone into playing games together?

There's always the Midwest Gaming Classic in March.  That is coming up pretty soon.

I hear turbo will be represented well this year.

About a year or 2 ago, someone (forgot the member's name) from the Boston area had a meetup. I felt awkward about driving 90 minutes to play video games with strangers but kinda regretted it afterwards since he posted photos and it looked like a good time. I don't think there are too many other members from my area but I might have to go to the Midwest Gaming Classic one of these times.

YSM of TRS descent looking for GHF of QOQ desecent for PSG, UMD, HES, FMZ, PVP & maybe a lil ol' fashined NGPC! :D

Actually, I did once meet up with someone whose online name totally escapes me, but I met him on the old Yahoo Turbo Grafx club.  I think his real name was Art Agreesior or something like that, though it's been years since I've heard or seen him.

You must be talking about bust3d.  I think he was having a bbq and game thing.  Man I wish I could've gone to that, but a 19 hour drive is kinda long.

I live in Laramie. True, Colorado isn't very far, but I don't know of anything to do there, except visit the used game store in Ft. Collins. If you're willing to suggest something, I'd be very happy to listen.

I wouldn't mind having a CO gathering. I know there are a few of us that are members, and I never get a chance to properly geek out about TG/PCE. Even store managers in "retro" stores stare at me like I'm crazy when I mention anything TG related. I'd love to have some Bomberman tournaments, or play through some DE, or whatever.

Great responses!

I am from the CHI, so I know about the VGS, and the MGC, and I will most likely be there..

I was wondering about informal casual encounters, or just a few dudes hanging out... Nothing weird, you know just gaming... maybe a 5-some....

(I seem to remember proposing a turbo grafx dating something or other, but it didn't go very far)

Maybe we can make a stickie (sorry), for regional monthly hang outs or something?

I'm game as well, I'm down in Colorado Springs so I'm only like an hour from you Sadler.  Gotta do a meetup sometime and maybe get the Joe the Red to show up as well.

BTW-Denver looks like hell today.  We've got snow, but it looks like a full out blizzard in Denver.

Sweet man, that'd be awesome! :D Maybe when the weather gets a little nicer we can do a BBQ or something. I'd be happy to host.

As far as the blizzard goes, yeah it's pretty nasty where I'm at. Not sure how it is farther north, but Highlands Ranch is getting slammed right now and supposedly it's going to keep up for another 12 hours!  There's seriously some guy riding around my cul de sac right now on a snow mobile. :D Guess that means I've got no choice but to get my turbo on :D

  makes me so sad.  I LOVE snow.  Yet I'm stuck here in Tennessee where its a balmy 60 degrees... Maybe I need to just bite the bullet and move back to Denver...

Also, if you guys plan something in June I'll be out there visiting (cant remember the exact date) and I'd be game for a meetup :P

That sounds great but, unfortunately I only have the ten toes transport right now.
It would be nice if there were some kind of shuttle bus that would go around picking up gamers to take to gatherings and conventions.

Haha yeah there really isn't! I only knew one kid who had a TG-16 wen I was growing up, and I don't think he bought it in state. My other friends would make fun of me (or have no idea what I was talking about) when I said the Duo looked like a pretty cool system. Thats awesome you have a place in Maine, maybe we'll all meet up someday :) I'm actually hoping to move to Woolwich soon, its a pretty nice little town and I need to get away from traffic on route 1 in Wiscasset before summer.
