Title: Hit Japan Ebay Terra Forming Warning
Post by: tggodfrey on January 17, 2012, 04:07:08 PM
Be very careful if your looking for this game from him.  I just returned this game for a refund becuase it had scratches that caused the game to skip.  He claimed he had no other copies and here it is listed 2 days later.

Two days later?  It's a pretty common game on the pc-e.  Maybe it's a different copy and just used the same auction page to save time? :-k

I'm pretty sure it was hitjapan who sent me a Neo Geo CD that was covered in grease, reaked of smoke like it had been in a house fire and had a weak laser that died out altogether within a week. When I told them about it, they offered a refund if I paid to ship it back to Japan, which would basically cancel out the refund. If they'd shipped me a decent condition game that was either not tested or barely tested, it would be one thing to insist that I ship it back. But the person who packed this thing knew full well that it was all greazy and super stanky and shipped it out like that on purpose. They listed it as a "discount" item, because there was a tiny chip off of the outer shell at a controller port. Basically it was a scam item listing from the get-go.

I got a white saturn from them.

I did not order a white saturn.

They pulled that pay to ship back crap with me and I said lolno and told them to front the shipping.

they said keep the saturn.

now BMW has the saturn. lol

and they ended up sending my games to me, minus one that was out of stock, that they never did send to me.

Thanks for sharing the warning.

However like Liquid Snake I have used them on several occasions and have not had any problems so far.

I haven't had any problems either, maybe they ran the disc through a repair machine. They sell so many games it would be a good idea to have one around.

the way it works is they're great until customer service is required, and then it seems like the guy doesn't really care what the heck is going on.

Never was a fan of Hit-Japan, gone through yamatoku and retrogamecity a few times with good results.

Reading this thread I feel like I've lucked out.  I've ordered from him probably half a dozen times over the past year or so without any issues.  The games have always been in good shape and have arrived faster than I was expecting.

I've been ordering from them for years. The only issue I had was a copy of Kato and Ken with a not-so-great manual. Overall they are my favorite seller in the history of eBay.

And a nice Saturn it is :D

On a side note...

I bought a loose Arcade Card Pro from hit... like $22 shipped or something...  It came and didnt work lol.  So I asked if I could exchange it for another (since I liked the price I paid...) they said ship it back and they'll refund me....  So I mailed it back (cost some $4 or so) and got my refund.  Too bad they didnt refund the $4 it cost me to ship it back.  So I lost $4 because they were derpy.

LOL so it was YOU that got the card. Haha.

That sucks that you had to mail it back. They're good about the refunds.

Yeah but they could give you a $4 credit for shipping.  That could get you a cheap Saturn or PC-E game.  That's pretty shit for them to make you pay money out of your pocket when it's their mistake to begin with.  As for having issues with them, I never have.  I've used them for a very long time and not once have I ever had an issue.  With how many people use them it's really no surprise that every once in a while something happens.

They claim they will refund the shipping after they get the item , but I don't buy it.   They seem lazy and slow over there at HitDerpan.

I've only had a few instances where things were not as expected, but only small problems such as case labels being tad faded and one huey game came with the sponge smelling like a fungi invasion... Space Invaders, oh the irony! Went straight to the trash. Aired out the case for a couple weeks and everything is fine. Shipping is my biggest gripe, but can't fault them for that.

I've ordered from them like 40million times, especially after the fall of RisingStuff.

they do great usually, but sometimes their descriptions blow.  It's because they have say 6 copies of a game ,and use one auction for them all

Yeah, I buy from them a lot.  Only had a couple small issues, which they fixed ASAP.  SO, I have been fortunate on that account.  I bought that Terraforming he was selling.  If it has any scatches, I will just get it buffed.  I've had to get a few games buffed, and they play perfectly afterwards.

I ordered a few things from Hit and all were good buying experiences. I never had to return anything to them or didn't receive an item that wasn't as described.

I bought my DuoR from them and they included(or forgot) a free copy of Devil's Crash in the hucard slot of the system.

Is HitJapan run by this guy Masa?  if so he seems very transactional in nature (read - $ first, any problems, fock it).
I've bought from Retrogamecity, yamatoku-classic and the other JP baseguys (there is a JoeBing guy based in Sapporo, great condition/accurate quality description stuff, but pricey), as well as Doujindance.  I ask them to ship to my friends or wifey's relatives' house in JP locally so I save big time on the shipping given I goto JP a few times a year for business trips.

The Masa guy would quote crazy prices for even domestic shipping.  like 6-7 bucks within tokyo... for 1 game.
for reference you-bin (postoffice) media mail in JP works great all the time and it is 160 yen anywhere ($2 USD).

so you can get the sense about this guy's tendencies

^ ah after reading all these posts now I really regret buying from him. I was expecting pretty quick shipping but he keeps telling me the games are on the way to his office =/. It seems like his stuff is in stock but clearly they are not as he has to get them from somewhere else -_-. I don't think I'll be buying from him again even if some if his prices are pretty good.

I wouldnt give up that easily on him.  They really are a reliable source of decent priced games.  Even the best of something can have hiccups from time to time.  :)

so far i have only ordered one thing from them. It was my arcade duo card, and it took forever for them to ship it to me, and i paid the express shipping. I ordered it right after winning bartres raffle for sapphire. so like DEC 18th. I didnt get the arcade card until like the 10th of JAN. I emailed him about it and said why the hold up. He stated it was because the holidays. I asked well you could have sent me an email notifying me about the delay, and he apologized.

So i'll most likely take my business else ware

:)  More for me!

And munch, that really isnt that long a wait if you think about it.  Thats right around the holidays, where there were tons of shit being shipped, but places being closed, ect.  Take that in consideration, along with actual transit times, and its really not that bad.  :)

Yup some of the items have damages on them in plain sight, and claims they are very good or better.

you would think it taking that long they would at least refund the difference i paid for express shipping. Like it wasn't to big of a deal because i didn't get sapphire til after got the arcade card. I'll give them another shot some time in the future.

Damn lol. I was actually thinking to myself that it would end up taking the same amount of time to deliver. Oh well next time IF I order something else from there I'll use the cheap shipping.

I've bought from them a dozen times the past year and everything has gone great, they can be pretty lenient on best offers as well. I go with the cheapest shipping and it gets to the UK within a week, can be a lot longer when you order from their site probably because they don't have it yet.

So from the "good" past experiences you've guys have had, were they from their ebay store or their actual website? I'm guessing the website takes much longer to ship.

I've had decent luck so far, but as for shipping I normally try to buy in larger lots to save on overall shipping, and if you go EMS I swear that shit is out the door like 20 minutes after you pay.  If you go SAL or slowboat I think they use the package as a doorstop for awhile because it feels like it takes FOREVER for anything to show up, but it always does eventually.

well I just shipped something from the JP post office and EMS literally reaches its desitination in 3 days... SAL takes 8 weeks, so the doorstop feeling is def ligit.
