Title: Pcenginefx TV - MAGFest Edition
Post by: jayamine on January 18, 2012, 03:52:33 PM
Not sure if any of you have heard of MAGFest, east coast game convention that's been around for about ten years. Aaron did a special edition of Turbo TV for us way back during year 1. I recently dug it up, converted it from VHS to DVD, and am in the process of posting it on youtube. I'll post a link when it's up. Just a little heads up.

P.S. I hear the guy who started MAGFest is a real jerk ;-)

I really wanted to attend MAGfest but it just wasn't in the books. :(  Hopefully next year.  I really want to support east coast gatherings because there seem to be so few of them.

One Duo this year...Cadash was running until I sugested Ninja Spirit. Later there was some Devil love being rocked. Console room could use some Turbofest action!

MAGFest 1 and 2 had tons of Turbo support, but the new managers aren't really Turbo people, hence the gradual shift. Glad to hear people on the WC have heard of it.

Yep :-D They were really nice guys. It was a lot of fun. Hoping they'll have me back again sometime so I can finish the Irvin Kershner stories.

And I'm incredibly worried I got too emotional talking about MAGFest and said stupid things, but guess we'll see.

Oh Bucci's on my FB friends. I'm supposed to look for a Vasteel sleeve for him. I didn't know he did a podcast too. Cool :-)

Your msg reminds me that I made a comment about the difference between MAGfest and PAX. I hope it doesn't get misconstrued as bad. Now I'm really worried. Ah well.

Yeah in episode 2 chris was a guest on allgengamers it was about the TG16.The last one i listen to they mention they like to have him as a,guest again. As for the pax i never been to one yet so i wouldn't know the difference with it and magfest.

I made a comment about MAGFest being a fan convention and PAX being a trade show (difference being cash flow and corporate support). Why do I have a feeling I'm going to catch flak for that comment?

I guess isn't pax is for more modern gaming isn't it ? Beside it having sponsor etc while magfest is for the gamer fan of retro&modern right ?

Yes and no. The main difference is that you won't (for now) find blizzard and nintendo and microsoft setting up vendor booths at magfest. You'll find (much cooler) indie vendors like Fizz Man! Stil I really like what PAX does with Child's Play and I'm glad MAGFest works with them :-)

Actually just finished listening. Fascinating stuff! I had never heard of Zaku before. :D You kind of steam rolled the hosts for the first hour, I found it amusing. :D MAGFest sounds like lots of fun, I'm going to try to make it this year if I can.
