Is this like Advance Wars?

Most of the strat games on the PCE are mecha oriented, or PC-88 ports. Some have Ai while others do not.

Famicom Wars is good enough for me.

I recently purchased Gameboy Wars, but I do love Advance Wars.  I think I'd get to grips with a game like that (if it is similar).
On a different subject, I was after GBA Fire Emblem, but it's ridiculously expensive!

To answer your questions yes, but you're better off with Daisenryaku or Nectaris/Military Madness.

I guess you haven't tried Neo Nectaris then. You should pick it up asap. It is amazing and comes with Military Madness built-in. Vasteel and Macross Love Song are also cool.

I've booted up Serd in emulators several times before and always thought it looked like a cool strategy game. Would love to see a translation someday, it features in-battle dialogue between characters.

Lady Phantom seemed nice and straight forward enough when I tested it out many years ago.

I did not like Vasteel 2 at all though.

Lady Phantom is indeed a great game. Super Daisenryaku is just too old for me in its gameplay. There are so many games in the same genre that are much better that I wouldn't recommend it. The same goes for Master of Monsters, that is basically the same game but with monsters instead of modern vehicules.

I hear you, but there's something wonderful about Master of Monsters (I spent many hours with Genesis version) that prevents it from being as stale and musty as folks may expect.

To all those reading: give Master of Monsters (any platform) a chance ;)
