On of the comments on the latest Game Sack video was talking about JB Harold 2 which was left only in Japan for the PC Engine CD. I think this guy is probably full of it but I'd love to be proven wrong. I can find no evidence of any other JB Harold game for any PCE configuration other than Murder Club. Is true?

Definitely not true, unless you count LD-ROM games.
-
It was not released on the Turbo or PCE, but they are undoubtedly thinking of Blue Chicago Blues (http://www.c-games.info/games,002,3475.html) on the PC-FX which is, actually, JB Harold 2.
-
Didn't Blue Chicago Blues come after Manhattan Requiem?
-
Hmm, maybe. I'd never heard of Manhattan Requiem until just now. I'd always considered BCB to be JB 2. Either way, Requiem wasn't released on either the PCE or the PC-FX so it's doubtful they were referring to it. Unless it came out on the Laseractive for use with the PCE PACK, in which case, maybe they were.
-
It did come out for the LaserActive with Turbo pack but it was also released in the Land of Opportunity known as the Great United States of America.
-
Well then that couldn't have been it.
I still bet they were talking about BCB. They probably saw it in a game list, maybe on this very site, and didn't notice it was in the list for "PC-FX" games not "PCE."

There is your first mistake...someone with the power to post a comment on Youtube has the same internet that you do. Maybe their Google-fu is not so good or they just wanted to get thread started. At least you saved yourself some time and came to the true source for all P-CE/FX related infos.
Sidenote: I learned (or forgot and re-learned, brain cells an't what they ever where) from your LA episode about the LD-ROM Manhattan Requiem release. I have Murder Club for PCE but never could get into those type games...again, I can't remember shit, even RPGs give me trouble. Guess I'll stick to shooters.

Blue Chicago Blues is number five in the series, with the first four starting out on the PC-88:
1) J.B. Harold Murder Club
2) Manhattan Requiem
3) Kiss of Murder
4) D.C. Connection
5) Blue Chicago Blues

Knowledge bomb! <Kaboom>
-
Goddamn Necro, you are a JB Harold FREAK! ;)
-
JB Harold loves the US so much, trying to solve a case in each of its cities. Too bad he rarely releases his games here.

It's a damn shame Kiss of Murder and D.C. Connection never came out here. Has anyone ever played these games? I really enjoyed the other 3 (especially the LA games, which did come out in the U.S.).

Looks like there was a DS version of Manhattan Requieum & Kiss of Murder!

God damn it. Why didn't anyone translate these and bring 'em over? Surely they were dual language like Murder Club and Manhattan Requiem, right? No? Damn it.

Dammit +1

Here's an intersting article on the various versions of Murder Club

That was a great read, thanks for posting the link! I always felt Hotel Dusk felt familiar and even mentioned the similarities to JB Harold in my written amateur review of the game at the time. Anyway I see there is a version of Murder Club for the MacOS and iOS devices. It's $12.99 for the Mac version. The description says English and Japanese text, but the screenshots show only Japanese and I cannot copy the text from the Mac App Store to translate it to see if it can be switched. The graphical style is exactly like the iOS version of Manhattan Requiem I have.
EDIT: Fired off an e-mail to Althi to find out if there will ever be an English version of Murder Club for Mac OS X/iDevices

Very nice link, now I got to get Hotel Dusk!
-
What a coincidence! I just bought Hotel Dusk last week.

I agree with Joe, that was a nice article to read. I had no idea that the J.B. Harold series had made it to the DS and iOS (let alone OS X).
I am grabbing "Murder Requiem" and "Kiss of Murder" for my phone/iPad right now.
"Kiss of Murder" has no option for English, but since it is an expansion of Requiem (a lot of assets are recycled from Requiem), I might be able to blunder through it. "Kiss" is more interesting (visually) than "Requiem" because "Kiss" pans horizontally/vertically over photographs, whereas "Requiem" simply displays static shots. "Requiem" also (it seems) uses a greater number of photos/images, which helps create a more immersive setting and atmosphere. Still, you can't help but laugh when you see the disparate stock photos that have been "modified" and stitched together to create the world of J.B. Harold (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png).
Kiss of Murder:

Manhattan Requiem:

NOTE: If you search "althi", you'll be able to find all of the J.B. Harold games for iOS.
I haven't decided if I'll complete "Requiem" before playing "Kiss", or if I'll play them in tandem, but I really wish there was an English language option for "Kiss"!
