Title: PCE Shooting Watch
Post by: cabbage on February 18, 2012, 07:34:43 PM
I've seen a lot of people expressing interest in the Hudson Shooting Watches recently, so today I wrote a little pc engine shooting watch demo.

sh_watch.pce
(http://lifeabroad.org/pce/sh_watch.html) (http://lifeabroad.org/pce/sh_watch.pce)

It's very simple, just press RUN button to start the timer. Press I or II like hell until timer reaches zero. Repeat as desired.
It also saves your high-score to BRAM if it exists and has enough free space. I only have a Duo so I haven't tested it on a machine without BRAM; let me know if it crashes and I'll see about fixing it.

Enjoy~

Hah! I never thought of this. This is great. You should write a Famicom version.

This will be neat to throw on my flash cart. I've always wondered how fast I can actually hit that button.

133 if I use buttons 1&2 together. I am using a PS1 pad on Magic Engine though.

Nice, but the original starts the timer with the 1st trigger pulse :)

Thanks for that, Tats. I'll change it and release a new version sometime. What do the Start and Select buttons do -- I assume something to do with switching modes or the watch and stopwatch modes? Any other suggestions?

If anyone's feeling creative and wants to edit the graphics... I ripped that image from google and tweaked it a bit, but not really satisfied with the results. Still needs better palette optimization at the very least...

Yeah, "select" selects the play-mode (2 play modes & 2 further play modes [???] to unlock & the regular watch) and "run"  sets/resets the mode/timer back to 10 (in the regular shooting watch game).

This is awesome!  I think I'll try and burn this (if I can find any CDs...)

Btw, it shouldn't be registering both buttons at the same time and counting both. You can use both buttons on the real deal, but if they both happen at once it only registers as one.

That's right.  you have to add at least an xor connection between the two buttons.

Btw, I can think of a few really awesome music tracks that could be added to this. That one YMCK song Takahashi solos on, some Star Solider, etc.
