So my Arcade Card Duo. I pop it in, turn on the system and run. Then I get an amusing soap opera (Art of Fighting) which basically says "you need an Arcade Card to run this software".
Then I take it out and reinsert it a bunch of times before getting it to work. The same thing happens with Sapphire, except with some corrupt sprites at times.
I think I've just figured out that by not pushining it all the way in, it's more likely to work. Does this happen to anyone else? tHis is in my Core II with a Super CD-ROM2

Try cleaning it well. Rubbing alcohol and an old toothbrush, then use one of those pink erasers to polish it up. I've had issues with some HuCARDS that act that way due to dirty contacts.
-
Good advice. I've already used an eraser on the contacts. But it looks pretty clean, and all the HuCards I've had tend to work every time after a little while.

I had that happen once when I went to play Sapphire with my Arcade Card Pro. I was afraid the card was going bad, but it hasn't happened since. I was also using a green diving board converter at the time and now have a region modded system, so it could have been a funky connection issue or something.

this also happens with mine...i just assumed worn out contacts?

I doubt that. I suspect dirty contacts.

try other Hu-Cards. if the problem persists, clean the Hu-Card connector in the system.

Just this one in my whole collection.

The AC is the most sensitive HuCARD. Back in the day I knew people that used diving board converters and such with zero issue until they got an AC and then had problems. It even seems to effect certain games more than others, although I'm not sure if that's actually true.
Clean the shit out of the thing, and your system. Use "contact cleaner" made for electronics, not Brasso or anything designed to put a cosmetic polish on things because that's just going to turn into more oxidation at some point. The pencil erasure thing works pretty well too, but be careful to not scrub too hard and rip up the contacts on the AC.
Then of course there is the other side of the equation, the system itself. For that I take a HuCARD sized piece of plastic (I use Evergreen since I build models and lots of the stuff) that is slightly thinner than the real thing. I wrap apiece of 800 or more sanding film around it, soak it in contact cleaner, and slide it in and out a bunch of times. Do not use sand paper made from actual paper since the shit will fall apart and leave paper/grit in the system. Sanding film is made of plastic and washable.

Never had any issues with my AC Hueys. Pop 'n play.

I have the same problem with my Arcade Duo card. Sapphire loads, but has graphical glitches. I cleaned the contacts a number of times and tried it in 3 different CD systems(Coregrafx II w/ SCD2, PCE Duo, and Duo-r) all with the same results. I noticed that my card is slightly curved/bent, so maybe it was damaged at some point before I got it.
I posted these screen shots somewhere in an older thread of the glitches I experienced with Sapphire:

Yep. that's what I saw the one time it went wonky on me. Is it always that way for you?
