What is the absolute, dumbest, stupidest, most ridiculous game tale that you've ever heard or read about?
-
A Sonic game on a Nintendo system. Oh wait...
-
a game where sonic and mario could fight each other.
wait...
-
N64 games will look like Toy Story.
...
Also, if we include playground rumors, I think the all-time worst I ever heard was one younger kid claiming the his older brother had physically scratched his Quake CD in just such a way as to change one of the enemy face textures into a picture of Bill Clinton.

Yeah I think I had that mag or one like it back in the day that had all kinds of crazy Street Fighter 2 screen shots. One that sticks in my mind is a shot of Guile holding a gun. It blew my mind as a kid obsessed with the game to see actual shots of this kind of stuff, but it must have been doctored somehow.
-
Well, I was gonna mention that EGM April fool.
I guess the other biggest load of shit I ever heard was this weirdo in the pub telling me lie after lie, such as:
He once smashed Vega's mask of During a fight in Street Fighter II
He then picked up Vega's claw
He won a 2m replica sephiroth sword for being one of the first 10 people in the world to complete Final Fantasy VII.
The man was a certified buffoon.

HAHAHA!
I remember some PC nerd back in 1994, while we were playing Daytona USA in the arcades, he told us that his uberstrong PC could do it much better.
-
A friend who was notorious for bullshitting people would do this all the time. The most memorable one was that the ship from Cybernoid was a real aircraft.
and that he had flown it.

It could. If Carmack was who you were talking to, lol

Polybius?
-
- That the second print Sapphire CD's 'might' be real, nobody knows 'for sure'. ](*,)
- That you could play as the boss characters in the original 'Street Fighter II - The World Warrior' arcade game by simply rewiring the joysticks.
- That this was a real product and going to be released:

I can't think of anything sillier than the 'second print' believers, but this (http://www.chrismcovell.com/PowerConsole/) was definitely one of the funniest and most entertaining hoaxes. Thanks again, Chris.

That was Microsoft with the original Xbox making such elaborate claims.

They are not dumb, but they are rumors. I believed them, for awhile, because some was from when I was a kid. This all stuff from when we were childish consumers, or media junkies.
-Rush Limbaugh was going to buy Microsoft X-BOX and take over responsibilities
for it.
- Donkey Kong Country was also on the Genesis "Hey look the Genesis can also do 3d graphics like the
- Playstation was actually going to feature uncensored and edited games from Japan
- Nintendo was going to release the N64DD add-on.
- Gamecube was going to get an add-on to play Wii games ( which they can ).
- Sega decided to get back into making consoles.
- Mario RPG luigi as a hidden character, for which you find and attain in the Casino.
- Cloud is a playable character in Mario RPG
- Cloud appears in Mario RPG
- Mewtwo can evolve
- You can download information threw television waves ( which has been proven true )
- With certain codes you can play Lora Croft nude. You can play her nude with a hack,
along with Chung Lee in Quake. LOok you can see Samus without her suit nude in smash brothers.
- Pokemon started as SNES game................
All kinds of stuff is out their, and I do not care, because those days are dead and over. Even play heavy Metal Fakk nude, Now they have
- Look a scan code use your phone to get a new game. Which has been done in the past.
- Disney films have sexual suggestive content hiddent within them..........
All kinds of nonsense to keep people busy.

This reminds me. Back in the day, my friend down the street got some book that came with a "doom hack CD". you were supposed to be able to use it to mess with Doom in various ways, one of them being replacement of enemy sprites with celebrity faces.
Is it possible that kid mistook Doom for Quake, and either misunderstood "hack" or was just gullible?

Ghouls 'n' Ghosts on the Mega Drive is a pixel perfect arcade conversion.
The music to The Kung Fu sounds like there's an orchestra right next to you.
(both from Computer & Video Games magazine/magazine spinoffs)

Wow. You guys have some pretty long lists there. Now I'm going to have to really think(rusty gears and cogs grating) just to keep up.
We had a local BSer too. I think his dumbest lie was that there was a new attachment for the TG16 called a "PC-Engine" that made it so, that you could play PC games on your console and that it was an actual electronic engine that came out of a Personal Computer!
I got him back though... I told him that there was going to be a sequel to Abadox called Buttox and when he doubted me, I laid it on extra-thick, giving details and talking about screenshots and he just ate it all up.
Another one was that there is a special code for Super Double Dragon where you can play as the final boss.
What else...hmmm...
"That the S-NES was coming to America very soon! Yaaay!" Remember that one? And what did they do? They changed their minds and made us all wait another entire year!! :x
What else, what else, what else... I know there is a TON of stuff out there but, I'm just too tire to remember it right now.

-The majority of Pier Solar "Enhanced Soundtrack" CDs skip or get stuck because the Sega CD is too old and worn out to read modern CDs.
-The "Enhanced CD" will not be included in the reprint of Pier Solar because it will not fit inside of the box.

Wow, that's from back in the day? First I've heard of it, but if there is a logical explanation for what that kid said other than someone's pathological lying, this is probably it. Interesting!

Probably all of the 'secret' pokemon from the original red and blue. Those were just rampant when I was in middle school. Beat the game 100 times with all 151 pokemon...moving the truck with the right pokemon with strength...getting behind bill's lighthouse...
My favorite (that I admittedly spread for fun) was that if you shook the gameboy upside down while fighting a gym trainer, Luigi would pop out and you could catch him.

That although the PC Engine is pretty good for an 8-bit console, it is a generation behind the Mega Drive and Super Famicom.
SNES could run Sonic perfectly while also scaling Sonics sprite up so big that you can make out individual whiskers.
The current generation did not start until the PS3 was released and the Xbox 360 is the previous generation graphics-wise.
SNES sound is as good as or better than CD sound and there is not a single non-SNES 16-bit game with music as good as Nintendos legendary SNES soundtracks.
PC Engine cannot do parallax and sounds exactly like a NES.
Sega-CD has zero to few decent (let alone good) games.
The Arcade Card is anything from a hardware to bios upgrade and anything done on ACD could not be done on HuCard.
Working Designs will program games (even only ports) from scratch.
The price of Magical Chase reflects its rarity compared to other Turbo games.
The Neo Geo is more powerful at 2D than Saturn or Playstation.

They did make "Lords of Lunar".
