Title: Reaction times
Post by: soop on February 27, 2012, 11:14:23 PM
How's your reaction time? http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/index.php

I was doing bad yesterday, but it seems to be much better today.  Yesterday I was getting around 260, today it's hovering at 230, best so far is 212.  I need to train for Kirby.

Damn you T____T  I feel old.  My new best is 210, 225 average.

I'm gonna drink a load of coffee and keep trying.

Seriously if you really want to do this test then play kirby's Adventure mini game " Quick Draw.

I remember me and my freinds, would play this game with our eyes blind folded. You would wait for the sound. We would get it faster
then looking.

This test your telling us about is testing you eye sight, rather then your ability to hear, or feel. If your playing games, some enemies are sound first, then movement.

257ms

one time I got it at 57ms

However truthfully I am counting down to or 7-9. each time I do it,

I am 144 on the list with more then 30 something cvlicks.

Lol, yeah, that's exactly how this all started - I was playing the Samurai Quick-draw game, and I had to get an 8 to beat King Dedede, but I could never beat a 9.

Then I played against my Ex, and she got a 00 O____O  And although we drew about 15-20 times, she beat me in a best of 23 match by double :(

We both did some with our eyes closed too, and there's not much in it.

I was pretty slow, averaged 240 or something. Pre-coffee, but I don't think that matters.

one cup of joe and I got a 202.  I think I could do faster.  200 now!  198!

I'm now officially faster than average.  I might have a cup of tea later and re-try, I had that coffee about 30 minutes ago.

*edit* a 193 and an average of 211.  Now 187 :D  I'm catching up Tats!!!

175!  beat that :3

Was averaging 220, so I snarfed a couple spice wafers and am now down to 0.

Spice wafers for the win!!!

Seriously though, I've figured out something:  Before, I was waiting for the green and then pressing the button, but you have to kind of teach yourself to react by clicking rather than consciously think of it.  That sounds weird, but basically, don't think about it, do it.

I got 0.

I think it broke.  after that my mozilla also closed.

lol.

GUESS I SHOULDN'T HAVE 93 TABS OPEN

You should always have 93 tabs open.  I know I do.  And that's why Firefox uses half my machines RAM.

Edit; I'm down to a personal best of 161 after this second cup of coffee

And finally, 58.  That was a fluke I think, but it's not gonna get much better.

*edit* Actually, it did, I got a 27.  I'm gonna have to stop now.

RegalSin is right about the fact that this is a visual reaction-time test above anything else.

Also, you know what's funny? The sound test code to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is known as very difficult to pull off because of how sensitive the timing is. Everyone says you have to start right when the screen goes black and Sonic appears, and finish before it goes white again. However, once you learn how the button presses work in time with the sound, it's quite easy. I used to do it with the screen off and the sound running through my stereo. Hint: the code starts exactly on the 2nd note played in the title-screen song.

Averaged 187 best was 165.

I think having a good gaming mouse like a Razer vs some cheap $8 mouse with slow squishy buttons helps a bit.

My best was 136, but I anticipated when it would turn green instead of actually waiting for it to change color. When I played again according to the rules, my avg score was 224.

There's so much that makes a difference; I tried it again at home with 2 different "mice" on my LCD Bravia, and it adds like 20-30ms!  And I can see that the mouse would make a difference.

I should add this test to the "Games/series you suck at" thread!

I suck at this! (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcds.png)
