I got an odd email tonight regarding money holds on my paypal account so I close my email and open up paypal and log in to see if the email was a spoof. It wasnt. I am really confused. The email states that all incoming money will be put on 21 day hold to give a buyer chance to review a shipped item and request a refund if necassary. I havent had one single despute against me or towards anyone to warrent this. Anyone else get this?
I wonder if Paypal is mad about all the "Gifting" we do.

Wierd. I just sent myself money from my Business Account and it allowed me to withdraw the "Gift" just fine. I am really confused.
I wonder if its a general rule for any account linked to an ebay account and they are doing it from a lack of seller feedback.
-
Normally its a safety thing for new sellers on ebay. They let you use the money to ship the item (thru ebay of course) But it shouldnt matter if you gift money tho.
-
Yeah I figured becuase I cant see any limitations as of yet. The thing is my ebay account is 10 years old. I have bought and sold plenty in the past and my ratings are awesome. I dont get it. Apparently Paypal isnt all that smart anyway....We have proven that . :)

Yeah Terry, all my funds are on hold right now too.. I hate it. Even by attaching tracking info, it doesnt release it. Doesnt really seem fair leaving it up to the buyer to leave feedback.

Holy shit they do this to me ALL the time. I've been an ebay seller for nearly 2 years and don't have a single negative feedback or bad DSR, and they STILL do it to me on occasion. It is wholly, completely wrong and I often wonder if I could file some kind of lawsuit about it. I don't typically sell anything online unless I'm in a money crunch...and as such it makes it VERY inconvenient when paypal won't let me have my money.

The words 'fair' and 'paypal' don't belong in the same sentence. This bull is part of their terms of service, so you can't fight it except by refusing to use 'em.

What other options do we have, aside from Amazon Payments? Paypal seems to have a sort of mini-monopoly over the whole online paying thing.

There's google checkout/wallet as well.

Wow......i had no idea this had been going on for so long.

Well the buyer probably sent you a huge payment. I have not seen this
at all, as of yet. Only thing I see that is like this, is when somebody pays
with an echeck, or some other service that has a wait period.
What is your listing now?

I had this happen to me a few months ago. It just happened out of the blue, they didn't send me a warning in advance nor did they ever tell me what caused the hold in the first place! I had to call PayPal's customer service three times before they finally did something about it. I know I might be stating the obvious, but PP's customer service sucks major balls and it was like the reps didn't know what the hell I was talking about when I explained what happened.
It's a damn shame that PayPal has such a monopoly over the online payment biz and I'd switch over to something like Google Checkout/Wallet in a heartbeat if eBay and other online merchants accepted anything other than PP.

It is not Paypal, it is ebay, and it is not even ebay, it is the "New" owners of ebay who also brought paypal. So how can we defeat paypal? Well their are a couple of other pay services out their, and the sellers just need to hint they can send payment another way.
However me sending a money gram costed me $10-$20 from last I could remember, and nobody wants to cof up a $1.06 cents for a Money order ( even if we use them to pay bills ).
Then the other thing is debit and credit cards. Paypal is the most cheapest method of sending or recieving money, for buying garage sale
items, or avoiding credit card fees.
However paying with credit cards allows you to buid credit, and all you have to do is walk up to the bank, or deposit slot and hand payment in
person.
All of money stored in paypal is really divided by FDIC ( or is it FICD ) banks. I do not know what is so special about these banks, asides that any money you deposited in paypal will be in those banks.

I will just deal with the holds. Its only temporary. Aggravating yes, but not that big of a deal.

Paypal is ebay
