All CPS2 boards have a suicide battery and will eventually die at some point, destroying(?) the rom. The Phoenix versions of roms have the suicide switched off and unlock all the special features hidden within games.

Yeah, that was my main system which goes nicely with my multi-bios Mega-CD 2. But I now prefer playing only on a HDG model 1 Genesis with an XMD-3. So these systems aren't getting much use anymore. I originally paid over $100 each for them back when few people offered mod service.

It's legit. It's supposed to be pretty much a re-branded European NES.
