I dunno how I got in this list, but Im cluless about fixing these badboys. Turbokon fixed my old CD-rom2, sorry if there was any misunderstanding.
Anyone in the UK do stuff? Need full cap replacements on my two GTs, but to ship to the states and back would be expensive.
Nice! I have some mods/repairs I will request from you once all my stuff makes it back to the States.
I PM'ed nat about this, but just posting it here as well for backup. My Turbo Express decided to finally break for good... :( It had been sitting in the shelf for many years and recently I wanted to fire up Super Star Soldier on it as I used to do, but now all that happens is that the backlight comes on when I turn it on, but nothing else happens. The game doesn't boot, no sound, nothing, just a black screen with the backlight powered on. I noticed though that there is still input control and screensaver support; I turned it on and left it alone for a couple of minutes and eventually the backlight would turn off, but when I touch any button or the D-Pad, the backlight turns back on and stays on for a certain about of time.
I read in the repair threads that this might be due to the one video capacitor, so I might actually try replacing that myself, but I wasn't sure it quite applied to the situation because the game doesn't boot at all, there is no sound, etc. Anyway, just wanted to put this out there for someone that fixes Turbo Express units. I may just wanna sell it broken or something and be done with it. To ship it to someone, pay for the labor and the shipping of it back to you, it's probably not worth it and I didn't use it all that much anyway...
At this point all the capacitors shoukd be changed. Dont stop at just the two audio and one video cap. Thats just a bandaid. Like was said... its not an expensive repair to have done.
how much on average does it cost? One million dollars......as I hold my pinky up to my lips....
turbokon offered a good deal: $35 for full capacitor replacement with return shipping included. That's a lot less than what I would've expected.Told ya. These guys aren't in it for the money, but more so to keep us playing. :) They can fix your Duo up too. I've had a few of mine worked by BlueBMW. He's added region mods, replaced caps, and added A/V jacks for me on a few systems. :)
I just wanted to add my thanks to Turbokon for taking a look at my Duo. You are an upstanding member of this forum. Thanks again!

BTW my AV mod is sterio
HI, just wondering where the people offering repair services are located. Anyone outside of USA?I'm in San Jose, California so I'm definitely not outside the US.
BTW my AV mod is sterio
So it can be modified? I didn't have the jack with stereo laying around. Just ordered some.
you need to add a new ground contact as the original lines up with the video pin perfect
Added a 2.5" LCD mod option so that no cutting up the front TE/GT shell is needed.
Just finished working on a couple members systems. Need more work:)
Also added a picture of a TE with a duo tap.
Turbokon does Amazing work. You guys wont be disappointed!
Yep, are u interested? Btw, I should have a screen for you soon.
rca jacks versus this mini din? ... Using the mini din is less work then trying to mount the RCA jack and I think is better looking too:)
