ok, manual is done and i modified a shitty old stapler into a TG/PCE book stapler hahaha... Cutting into the back end of the stapler allowed room for the manual to slip in to reach the spine <<ghetto style pose>>
Bernie will be receiving the first book :)... the rest i will have made up this week as my printer prints them but i have to assemble, i am happy with the results.

Dang, that manual looks nice, as does the Turbob branded stapler.
(...but that's my stapler... okay, that's the last straw... I'm gonna burn the building down.)
-
Looks great, Sparky!

Look great Sparky, can't wait!

Anyone want to translate the Legend of Xanadu manual, if it hasn't been done so already? I'd like to see what that Q&A part is all about.
-
Suuuuhweet! Do we have to PM you or something?

sorry for the late reply i am a busy boy these days, If any one has the artwork for the tray and i will look after that as well.

I got my package from Sparky today, and people...let me tell you. These translated Ys IV manuals look FANTASTIC!! It looks to be a genuine manual. I am not sure who exactly went through the process of translating the manual, but they certainly go VERY well with your translated disc of the game. Thanks to whomever went through the trouble of making this possible, thanks for the OP for the links, and a HUGE thanks to Sparky's magic he worked with these.
Posted by: NightWolve "Me want too!"
NightWolve, you will be pleased. These manuals really do justice to the work you put into your translation of Ys IV.
-
The translation of the manual itself came from the good ol' turbo list. It was done by someone named Hiroshi Kawai. I did the scan of the manual, cleaned it up and inserted the English text. Originally had plans to do many more manuals this way (see - http://m1sz1.com/manuals/pceman.html for early version) but as always with these types of projects, finding someone to actually do the translation seems impossible.
Glad to see Sparky taking the time to print this out. Put me down for one of these too.
-
Anyone here have a decent scan of the tray artwork? I'd really like to see the whole package produced, that would be dope!
-
Yeah, that manual translation work does not match up with some of the item name translations, for example. It was done by somebody else and nobody since revised it to match up with my patch... Regardless, this is a purty nifty project. I wouldn't mind having a copy, especially if he's got the proper printer and paper that make it look like the real thing.

Oh trust me.. They look VERY real. I have some actual manuals for some of my pc engine games that dont look this good.
-
Hey guys sorry for not updating everyone, I have 8 of these made up so far but have no time this week to get the orders going. I will be ready on Monday and post officially.
m1savage consider yours free for setting this up :)
-
I'd like to order one (when you have time).
-
One right here when available, thanks so much for putting this together Sparky!
-
Xalphenos over at the Ancient Land of Ys boards just provided this, there's a link to a 600 dpi scan at the bottom.
Here is a scan of the tray if he needs it. (http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/1025/ys4tray.jpg) I tried to clean it up a bit. Here is a raw 600 dpi scan. (http://www.mediafire.com/?cdcucfcm9kvhm23)
-
Oh nice, and thanks i will print these tomorrow and get the manuals and inserts ready to go....
Look for a post here if you don't see me bump my "insert sales thread"

Hey, even the Ys I & II manual had mistakes!
You begin your journey in a small town named Esteria.
-Ys I & II English manual
Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on an English manual and insert! It will go nice with my translated game disc, when the dubbing is finished and the game is FINALLY fully translated! :P
-
Is there an update on these sparky?
-
Waiting on my printer to print the back insert to go with the manual.
Sorry guys :(
-
can somebody please also print me that awesome english manual and send it to me? iam from germany and i pay post charges. that would be awesome. ;)
-
i want one printed manual too, please. :)
-
Man, I was about to make a HQ Scan of the Disk Art.
I got about halfway to the room where I was keeping it, until I realized I had already sold it. #-o
I was hoping one of you could clean it up a bit, and make a nice template out of it.
Americans are stuck with Epson, if they want to buy an Inkjet Printer that can print right on a Printable CD-R.
I think the rest of the world doesn't have that limitation.
-
I have a 600 DPI scaner and the disc. I could scan it.
-

Canon makes a couple printers that can print direct to disc, and HP used to but might have discontinued 'em.
-
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xkdv8c0fak0kbrc/Ys%20IV%20Disc-Scan.tif
That's the Disc Label(cleaned as best I could) and the Spine Card/Obi.
The reflective parts of the disc are almost impossible to scan without glare(for me at least). The file is 102mb and in an uncompressed .tif format at 5093x7000. I have no idea how to make a disc template, so whoever wants to can do that. Its my first time ever using my scanner so I hope I did ok.
If anyone knows how to eliminate the glare please let me know and I'll rescan it.
-
for those that have PM'd me about the manual, here are the details... http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=9393.0
sorry for the post count limit but i will be setting up a raffle for a couple of them as well.

Lookin' sweet, Sparky (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png).
-
VERY nice looking translated manual !!
I don't know if you still have any left, but I'm interested too... :D
Actually, I looked at the m1sz1.com website (linked earlier in the thread) and I wouldn't mind helping out translating other manuals too - although I'd prefer to do something like Xak 3 or Legend of Xanadu II first -- something with a translation or nearing that state. Any chance one of those will be put up ?
I also have the translated manual for Mottekke Tamago around here somewhere...

Hey, it's Dave, the Kisado Adapter Guy and the man that also helped make the Ys IV translation project possible! Welcome aboard, buddy!! Yeah, Sparky, I dunno if you already sent him one, but he certainly deserves one on the house and you're both up in Canada! ;)
-
I got with Sparky about getting Dave one. :) I think its on his massive to do list. lol
-
nobody pro-me for getting one copy also?^^
-
I've been trying to US-ify the cover. This borrows heavily from fragmare's Rondo inlay (all the recommendations are the same so far). It's a work in progress. I'd appreciate any feedback!

the writing under the logo seems a bit hard to read. What about making the Falcom logo on the back centered along the bottom?

Writing under the logo on the cover? Good call on both points. I need to use a higher resolution scan for the cover. Lemme see what I can cook up, but bear with me. Dammit Jim, I'm a programmer, not an artist! Thanks for the feedback!
-
Looks great Sadler.
Don't forget the game code - HCD3051 - underneath "printed in USA".
And the little white bullet points next to the recommended games.
I don't know if you're going to be able to make the tiny cover text any easier to read. I think the problem is the original print, not the scan.
-
Heck yeah, I'd love to have the US-ified booklet (even if it's just front and rear cover) and a US-ified tray insert!!
I'm having trouble patching right now, about to post over in the dub thread about an error I'm getting.
-
I really Dig that and would buy another manual if it was updated like that

Me too! :D
Anyway, here's probably the final version. I have much higher resolution versions available, maybe someone wants to host them?

Once you find a host, PM Superplay to put a link in his "Manuals and Replacement Docs" section.

Mmmmm, sexy! 8)
Though there's one minor error: it's Ys IV - The Dawn of Ys.
-
God damn. Now I have to print a new insert, get a new English print manual, AND burn another disc with the new patch.
-
There's a higher resolution available. I think Bernie is uploading it somewhere, I sent it to him a little bit ago. :D

Yes, please update this minor error so that I can print this out! :-"

Sorry guys, that's probably the last go at it from me and my buddy. On the bright side, US releases were all about minor errors so it adds that bit of authenticity! :D
