Title: WTB - Turbo express or PCE GT non-working or not
Post by: turbokon on May 16, 2012, 04:55:46 AM
Hey, looking to get another TE or GT, preferably non-working so that I can tinker with it. A working one is fine if the price is right:)

I've got one that was working OK with very low sound but I tested it recently and the screen got very dark for some reason, although you can see the game from a certain angle. It's being shipped to me now via freight so it will take a while to get here but if you are still interetested then I could hook you up!

All three of my TE's have reached this point. Their screens eventually went entirely black with just the backlight glowing. I'd be surprised if there are any fully functioning units still running on original caps. Replacing the four sound caps and the main video cap was pretty easy even for a novice like me using the repair guides on these forums. Obviously, all of the caps should be changed, but that requires a little more effort and buying smaller, non-Radio Shack caps.

OK so the video will return with a cap replacement? Don't really care about the sound but the lack of viewable video is pretty major. Might try my hand at a replacement or sell it here as is.
