Title: bonk website. (gone)
Post by: rjardina on June 02, 2012, 05:24:33 PM
most of everything I have of bonk will soon be sold off and the site has no real value to most. Most seem to be medalist and don't share my nostalgic. I will most likely make a torrent of the site. and share it that way. The torrent itself will have a couple of roms too. Biggest one will be a demo of 'bonk - brink of extinction'

Also I will continue to look for information and any scans (good) I don't own. and help would be great in getting information.

I do have to say this single forum is more likely the greatest site for any one console, without a second though. I will ask the own of the site if I can like to the torrent when I am done with it. in about a year. The information that was on my site is just a function of what I have

Your backgrounds are absolutely horrible. They are distracting and hurt my eyes. I won't go to your site again unless you tell me that you've changed them to one solid colour/shade that is easy on the eyes and offers a nice contrast to the font colour you are using.

Looks good.  About the BC Kid Amiga version.  It was released to the public for free and I see you have a link :)  Very nice.  However, you mention to use an emulator you must have an "Amiga" rom which is not free.  There is a "free" Amiga rom.  It's based on AROS.  It's a free 68k Amiga rom.

If you just download WinUAE it's built in and you can play BC Kid with no roms needed now.  Or you can use other emulators and download the free 68k AROS rom instead of finding a "copyright" Amiga rom.

Nice work!

I like it.  Everyone has an opinion but I think the info and scans there are a great idea.  I like the advertisements most.

I support all fan-based material online. Its better to have too many sources, than too few.

I love it.  It needs more manuals, but it's a great start!

I'm all for fan stuff (especially Hudson goodies), but you're essentially recreating The Bonk Compendium (http://bonkzonk.com/index.shtml).  Methinks you'd be better off submitting the stuff you have that they're missing.

Nice!

The "Nintendo" section should probably be labled "NES/FC" or something like that since you have SNES and GC listed above
and below it.

The backgrounds are pretty bad, its true, but since I lived through the 90s I can handle it. At least its not red text on a mostly black background with stars.

You might want to have the scans load in a new window or something. As it is they are too big to fit in a window without a lot of scrolling at most screen resolutions, and since they open in a frame the browser won't shrink them to fit.

Overall, its good.

Looks like a website from 1998 but hey, content is king, not layout.

I've also tried emailing 'The Bonk Compendium' over a half dozen times with no replies. Plus they have a couple facts that are wrong. I know I have at least two at the moment. also that is the reason there is just content and not much information, I like facts not rumors. (yes I know there is a rumor suction)

At the moment I'm thinking about just deleting everything and going with a single page format. more of a timeline set up

Love the 90's style web design. Simple and old school, bandwidth friendly.

Yes, but isn't a water mark enough. The other thing is, at the moment I'm to lazy to scan. It's a test ran too. when I'm done It will have a real domain name and the server will be over seas too.  Nor will I be able to post the link to it from here when I'm done :(. Please keep in mind I've been scanning things for the past two years and making this site but only when i'm drunk. and i don't drink that that offen

Hey man, everything you are doing is great. Anyone who puts work and time into promoting old school games they like should be given props. I like the site and I have have no complaints about it. Complaining is a waste of time when it is easier to just hit the little X at the top right hand of the page to close it if it's not your thing.

How does that help when rjardina is specifically asking for feedback?

I do think the site could use a little redesigning to have better usability and appearance, but I'm not a fan of stuff that's overly layout-heavy. If you make small tweaks as you go along I'm sure everything will shape up nicely.

The scan of RPC Genjin is from my site, the one with the grey box and missing area on it.

I don't know if you've got the PC Genjin calendar on your site, but feel free to take it from mine and add it to yours (as long as you credit of course).
