Title: How do I play NA hu-cards on a Japanese system?
Post by: FM-77 on December 05, 2005, 12:21:01 AM
I was wondering if there's a way to play North American hu-cards on a Japanese PC Engine Duo system.

I know there are converters, but I can't seem to find any on Ebay. What are they called, where do I buy them and what do they usually cost?

Is there a way to modify the console so that it can play BOTH Japanese and North American hu-cards?

....Or is there a way to modify it so that it can play ONLY North American hu-cards?

Thanks in advance.

D-lite does it he can put a switch in for that.

http://www.multimods.com (http://www.multimods.com/)

The switch lets you go from japan to u.s mode 8)

Oh, good, good. But I'd prefer to perform the modification myself. I'm used to such things.

But I just can't seem to find any sites with information on how to perform this modification.

There is a link somewhere that shows you how to do it on American systems, but it's a little different and harder on Japanese systems from what I know.

For a pc Engine, you have to do this mod first.

http://www.gamesx.com/importmod/necjapmod.htm

then perform this mod on either, remember that you have do it backwards depending on what region system you are using.

Personally, I suggest you get it done by D-Lite and save yourself the heart ache

I was going to ask about this myself as there are one or two US HuCards I was thinking of getting for my Core Grafx (Darkwing Duck springs to mind) but I don't think I'll take the risk...

Time to track down a cheap US machine instead...! lol

The correct switch to use for installing a region mod can be a little hard to find, I hope you find it and for a good price. I know one site used to sell them, which is where D-Lite buys them I believe.

Doesn't look like he has prices on the site, unless I'm blind.  Anyone here know, "around" how much it "could" cost to mod a SGX???
