Nice, I preordered 3 copies. One to keep sealed, one to open, and one to resell.

will these discs actually work?

so wait:

Discs 1 & 2 contain the game's original Mega-CD/Sega CD tracks.
Disc 3 contains remixes by famous artists, rare unused tracks & alternates.
Disc 4 is our famous Enhanced Soundtrack Disc, the Mega-CD/Sega CD disc to be played with any Pier Solar cartridge.

Discs 1 & 2 are the original soundtracks
but disc 4 is the original crapdisc with the enhanced soundtrack.

I am confused.    If the entire soundtrack fit on disc 4 for the game, why are there 2 discs for the soundtrack otherwise?

Also, I see they hiked up PS's price to 69.00$.  Christ.

and 35$ for the 4 disc OST.

Yikes.

ah well.   Magical Watermelon Adventure.

Discs 1 and 2 have other remixed tracks mixed in, not in the game.

I'm just gonna stick to my Pier Solar Reprint 9000 copy, and the bin/cue floating around of the f*cked up CD

they don't deserve any more of my money, because they've gone off the goddamn deep end.

Disc 1,2 (OST) and 3 (arranged version) can be read by a cd player. Cd 4 must be used with the cart when playing. Disc 4 contains also files that can be read on the computer.
I'm not sure, but it seems the reading problems have been resolved in this version.

but that doesn't answer the question of how the soundtrack fits on one disc for the enhanced cd, but needs 2 for regular use.

I don't get it.

I guess the music on cd4 is compressed and streamed  (as in Lunar2) to be used on a MCD whereas the cd1,2,3 are normal cdda tracks.

oh ok.

Yeah that makes sense I guess.  I recall Rover and Gravis decoding their "unbreakable" encoding for the audio.

this was right before the undumpable cart got dumped.

Ah well, at least they're a bit more put together than Super Fighter Team.

Supposedly they have fixed the issue with the "Enhanced" CD and it should work with any system.  You know what that means, right?  Yup, they went with someone else to press the discs.  This is the best I can do for a comment about this from a Pier Solar team member:

Quote from: Zebbe
What can I say about the CD is this: it was a TON of work, Fonzie did everything he possibly could to succeed, and that guy is a perfectionist and a man that works extremely hard to achieve his goal. So, to see the fate of the CD turn out as it did, was a big disappointment to him. There are many different factors behind the troubles: CDs are made differently these days compared to back then, CD units are old, there were many BIOS revisions and we couldn't possibly have tested on all of them and so on. We did what we could, have apologized for the inconvenience and released the disc ISO for download to somewhat "make up for it". We have never tried to fool or lie to anyone as people have suggested, it has more been a kind of communication problem which is easy to happen when not all of us speak English natively (me included). Again, sorry, sorry, sorry, we've learnt a lesson and it won't happen again!

BIOS revisions.  Surely they know they can load them into any Sega/Mega CD player with a flash cart.  And there aren't that many revisions.  Shit. I should have tried it on the LaserActive when I had it.

Oh, and the music was waaaay below redbook quality on the enhanced CD, so of course it would all fit on the disc.  It also looped whereas I imagine the redbook tracks play through a couple times before fading out.  I've posted several tracks from the game itself online here (http://www.youtube.com/redifermusic).

I fixed the enhanced CD too.  I just burnt my own from the bin/cue that was floating around.  I hope it still is, so I can make some more.

I mean the real bin/cue.   Not their official release one that cuts out some stuff that only the original preorderers "deserve".

lol.  CDs are only made differently when you get them from some cheapass chinese bullshit factory.  If Insanity was pressed flawlessly, their excuses are garbage.

We all know the turbob is way more finnicky than a Sega CD.

At least they apologized and admitted they f*cked up.

Lets hope their lesson learned is to be up-front about f*ckups in the future instead of creating excuses and dancing around like goons about it.

BIOS revisions.

lol.

That is funny that the real soundtrack you can buy has good quality music, whereas the enhanced CD doesn't.

Doesn't sound very enhanced.

I used the enhanced CD like, 2 times before I said screw it, because I was playing on my OTHER Genesis that isn't attached to a Sega CD (and was hooked up on my desk , attached to a 1084S at the time).

What I did hear of it wasn't that much of an improvement over the regular cart music.

I prefer the cart music, TBH.

35$ for the soundtrack is moronic either way.   Its obviously another way to generate more money to recoup from their trainwreck.

The fun never stops.  I questioned him about the BIOS revisions and suggested that their initial price point was too low, thus why they chose the cheapie Chinese factory.  The response I got:

Quote from: Zeebee
How many BIOS revisions? Over 20. And not all are dumped. That's why it doesn't work with the more obscure systems.
I guess you don't have the technical knowledge yourself either, because pressed CDs and CD-Rs work completely different.
It had nothing to do with money either. Your speculation fails as usual.

These guys are milking this game more than Capcom milks its latest fighters.  I always thought the homebrew scene was about heart, not the big $$$$$$$$$$.
