Title: My recent trade
Post by: galam on June 28, 2012, 02:05:34 PM
Well, does this qualify as a trade?  Since all intents and purposes was to acquire this lot, otherwise I wouldn't have made a move.

Sold a boxed SNES w/ Chrono Trigger, Metroid, Zelda, Mario Kart, Castlevania, SF II Turbo, Mortal Kombat, Animaniacs (all boxed complete).
Loose carts... All 3 Star Wars games, Bio Metal, Mario World, Phallanx, Magic Sword.
Atari 2600 w/ 20 games (paid $10 for the lot at a live auction)
Sega Saturn (that I bought for $10), GameCube (that I bought for $12), Boxed Vic 20 (paid $15), and my dupe GBA SP (boxed with a few common games).
All of this for $425

Used the funds to purchase this lot for $350...One of the only reasons I pulled the trigger is because none of these games were duplicates for me except Alien Crush.

So you won that auction (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=150836726886&nma=true&rt=nc&si=%252Fer%252B8Try%252FakHFpY6QYV1LD7LJec%253D&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_1039wt_1396)? Pretty damn good deal for a bunch of great games and a TE to boot, which'll probably be fine after a cap swap.

Haha, I forgot to post a pic of the Turbo Express even being a part of it.  I'm already in discussions to have caps done.

As I was hitting "Place Bid", I could hear the people in this forum saying..."Another idiot pays outrageous prices", but like I said, that's a big lot to come out with only one dupe.  So don't hit me too hard.

I think you got a great deal, If you paid $10 for each game alone that's $270 plus you got a Turbo Express. Dam good deal. CONGRATS.

You did well with the lot you bought, but I think you could have got more out of the stuff you sold.

Yeah, sometimes it's not about how much money, but if you and the people you dealt with are happy. You got a good deal on some awesome turbo games and a TE, which might be because you got some good karma hooking up some other gamers at reasonable prices. Enjoy your new games just as I'm sure they are enjoying your old stuff!

I agree, but to max out my return would have been way too much time listing separate items on eBay, collecting payment, shipping, etc.  I got all of that stuff over the course of a year just frequenting yard sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. I didn't pay a whole lot for it all and the dollar value wasn't what was important to me. I went to a guy that just opened a used game store and I try to support people that keep the hobby thriving. He got a great deal and now I have a beefed up turbo collection of good games. The stuff I got is way more meaningful to me then the stuff I sold, so I think all parties made out ok here.

In addition, I came out with $75 extra.  Earmarked for a reasonable It Came From the Desert when I see one on eBay along with Double Dungeons.

With the 'Express, that isn't too bad of a deal.  Have fun with it.

Yeah I've done things similar too that, a store opened pretty close to me and a lot of time I'll just bring stuff to them rather than deal with ebay, it's always good to support local stores.

You're lucky those last four hucards were loose or some a$$hole collector would have bid a fortune.

From a gaming perspective, you gave up a few great SNES games, but acquired a shitload of the most fun and enjoyable Turbochips. Zonk, New Adventure Island, Shockman, Neutopia, Blazing Lazers, Aeroblasters, Legendary Axe, Galaga, both Crushes, Military Maddness, Ninja Spirit, Bloody Wolf, Splatterhouse, Dragon's Curse, both Bonks...damn. You're set. If anything, you may have spoiled yourself the fun of being forced to play and appreciate sleepers like JJ and Jeff, Power Golf, and Boxyboy.

And no, a sale and unrelated purchase does not qualify as a trade.

good work.  Throw out everything but Shockman as it is the most wonderful TurboChip ever created.

It Came From the Desert...WON!  Finally, reasonable.

I'll be raffling off Addams Family when it arrives if anybody cares.
