WOW REALLY? Last time i checked this aint ebay. There is not a single game out of the 14 your selling that is even rare. Also a TG16 asking $75? Total $225 Sounds like gouging to me and maybe just maybe your trying to recoup what you spent for this bundle.

you might get trade offers but i dont see anyone here paying $150 for common games. Not when TV SPorts and Keith Courage are 2 of the 14 that can be had for free or under $5.00.

But goodluck to you, Like they say a fool and his money are soon parted.

I will tell you who cares you little f*cking twat.  WE CARE!  You don't come in here, and offer worse than eBay prices to forum members.  Bad move asshat.  May as well take your "never going to sale" post down, and take it over to eBay where it will guess what....not sell there either.     $150.00 reserve for that pile..  LMAO..  Man, that was a good one!!!   ](*,) Here, you may get better results doing what this little guy is doing... ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Firm believer in not deleting what we write, but still want to strike through it.  I over-reacted somewhat due to the attitude shown.   ](*,)

Congratulations Swiss780! You're up for your Official PCEFX Six-Week Evaluation!

Let's see how you're doing. Areas for improvement are marked in red!

The Lifespan of a PCEFX Reseller:
1) Noob intro, typically in a WTB thread.
2) Claims to be a collector, but doesn't know what anything is worth, or which CD setup to buy.
3) Asks for help fixing shit.
4) Asks for help in the form of appraisals: One, Two
5) Asks for help completing U.S. collection. (Not explicitly, but you ARE looking for Magical Chase.)
6) Asks for help getting good deals:
One +5 BONUS Points - Requested WTB items in someone else's WTB thread!
Two
Three
7) Demands CIB games (OH NO! You asked for LOOSE hueys! Better fix this.)
8 ) Impatient, overpays for crap on ebay, writes down amounts paid.
9) Decides to sell TG items to get out of debt or collect something else.
10) Has an "a$$hole f*cked me over sale". Bases prices on amounts originally paid, not reality.
11) Defends gouging prices. Accuses the community that helped in stages #3-6 of suddenly becoming a$$holes. (same link)

Bonus Points:
*Majority of posts in sales forum: +1
*Inflated price quotes from rarityguide.com: +1
*Inflated price quotes from Ebay: +1
*Entered two raffles (Air Zonk, Time Cruise): +2
*Offered forums members $60 for loose Bonk 3, later argued that it's worth $95!: +4
*"Suck it Trebek": +1
*Claimed TG16 sellers deserve 10-20% profit margin: +1

Career Highlight:
Defending gouging prices on the same day of entering Air Zonk raffle: +8!

The price for everything is insanely high for those games.  There are only four of them that are decent in my opinion.  We've all seen *complete* TG16 systems sell for under 50 dollars on ebay.  Complete in box systems are around 100.00 in decent shape.

You know, all that really needed to be said to Swiss780 was that his prices were too high in most people's opinions here and that most likely he would have a very hard time selling them as such. That should have been the end of the conversation right there. There was no need to start ripping him a 2nd ahole. Then again, maybe he was asking for it by saying "Who cares what you think".

Yeah, you pretty much sealed the deal by trying to gouge the very same community that you came to asking for help. You kept it going be insulting one of us ("who cares what you think").

Guess what, a LOT of us here have been friends for YEARS. Way to bite the same hand that you tried to get fed from. You are welcome to apologize and change your ways if you want to hang around.

Swiss780, you are a douchebag of the highest order. We deal with your kind almost every month. You come here, want things from us, then charge outrageous prices for common games, refuse to man up and accept that what you're doing is wrong. The only reason you're here is because you have a get rich quick scheme, trying to take advantage of fans of an fairly unknown system. You are simply trying to take advantage of people who already have a tough fandom.

Go home and jerk off to your $100 "ULTR@ R@RE!!!!!11111" copies of Keith Courage, or whatever you were selling.

After reading this whole thread, I must say to all the REAL members here, I'm proud of all your responses. I may not have gotten to read the original post, but I get the gist. Your posts are all full of win, and even with the friction, I'm proud to be a apart of this community. I think everything has been said, except...

Agreed, there are very few people who got rich off of their games, and they didn't make their money by reselling.  I think of people like AVGN getting money out of it through their creative talent, and I don't really now how much he makes, I just know that it is his way of making money in life.

BUT, BUT, BUT, My financial adviser told me that Video Games is better than the stock market because people are paying up to $10,000.00 for a NES! I saw it on Storage Wars! Plus, the proof is on ebay! Look at the money being thrown around by idiots with way too much money and time on their hands!  VERY sad. It is what it is though. Too bad crap like ebay has taken so much fun out of the hunt for the stuff though.  [-( This assclown here that started this thread is a prime example. Oh, and Go Get Em', Bernie!

In the behind-the-scenes type videos before he started making his movie, he mentioned that his "real job" prevented him from putting out more videos or creating them at a faster rate. But you may be right now that his movie is in production. It seems like he may have left his job to focus on the film. I hope it does well, because selling web ads and merch like shirts and DVDs on Cinemassacre is a tough way to make a living.

I believe he filmed Wedding Videos prior to getting a contract from ScrewAttack that paid well enough to where he could devote his efforts to web videos and Cinemassacre related projects full time.

Actually, you are at 45 + 60 in shipping. You were asking 175 shipped, for your lot of games. However, you still have to pay Ebay and Paypal fees, oh, and some of that ridiculous shipping price actually has to go towards shipping. Its going to be at least $20 in shipping. So, right now, you are sitting at a whopping $73. Congrats.

Like I'd fly to Canada to tell you what you should already know.

Even if you get a million Canadian Dollars for that lot, it still doesn't excuse the fact that you've tried to profiteer from a group of people who have helped you out.

Imagine this:  You're homeless, and you find yourself at a shelter, where volunteers give you food to eat and a place to sleep.    Then you try and sell them back the food they just gave you so you can buy crack.

That, in a very extreme case, is exactly what you've done.  It's immoral, it's rude, and it's a slap in the face to all the decent people on this board, many who have GIVEN AWAY FOR FREE some of the games you're selling.

If that's the kind of person you want to be, that's fine, but don't act all indignant when people dislike you for it, it's a shitty thing to do.

*edit* oh, and congratulations for being only the second Canadian I've ever talked to that I don't like :)

We started talking shit because you wanted too much money, whether stupid people on your ebay listings realize it or not, then people came to the defense of, from what I can tell by my limited time here, a highly respected, highly likable forum member.  You clearly haven't realized this in the couple months you've been here, but in the couple weeks I have been here, this is a community.  And, while you are alienating yourself on the outskirts like a leper, others are happily enjoying it.  I hope I'm not stepping outside of my boundaries stating this...but even if I am I think it was something that would be said, if not by me, then by another forum member.

I thought thats what i did when i replied to your FS/Trade thread.

I said this.......

CPTRAVE said this... Yeah that sounds a tad high, maybe included is Bonk 3, nope do not see it oh well.

You follow up with........Who cares what you think.

Hmmmm need i say more, But what do i know im just a fat old fag ahahahah fagget (your words)

You do not deserve respect.  That crap you had in your signature was uncalled for, and beyond disrespectful.  This all started from how YOU responded to a few people letting you know about your asking prices.  So, we did "just tell you".  YOU sir were the one that acted like a dick with the whole "Who cares what you think" comment. Seems to me that it was you, that started throwing the disrespect around.  But, I don't expect to get any sort of intelligent response from you.  I am not even going to bother with it anymore.  I was mad about it for a bit, then I thought about it some.  I can't get mad at you...that would be like getting mad at a retarded person.  So, I just had it fixed.

With all that said..  I still feel like there is room for you here and your gaming collection.  I mean damn man, we all share the same passion, the TG16.  That is why we are here right?  Our only thing, is that we try to keep the prices in the community at less than eBay prices.  It only helps us all in the end.

Like bernie, I hope that folks can contribute/be involved in conversations, even if they are filthy profiteers.

It doesn't mean it will be easy for me to trust the fellow, but I appreciate bernie's sentiment: at the very least it opens up some possibilities.

Post by: Bardoly on July 20, 2012, 05:50:30 AM
I know that I'm a new member of this community, but after reading all of the angst in this thread, I feel compelled to speak up.

I understand and share the disgruntlement that we 'gamers' feel towards all of the 'collectors' and re-sellers out there who continue to drive prices up, but there's no need to castigate someone who needs some money, has some stuff to sell, and offers it to a smaller segment of the public before offering it to the general public.  If the seller's prices are too high, then why ridicule and antagonize him?  Just ignore him.  I mean, if Best Buy is selling a new Wii game that you want to purchase for $39 and Target is selling it for $89, then do you go protest in front of Target?  No, you go purchase it at Best Buy, and you ignore Target.  It's the same principle here.

If someone needs some $ and feels that he can get $X from eBay.  I don't see a problem with him posting up his for sale list here before listing it on eBay as long as the posting is made appropriately.  Example:

"I have some extra games that I'm looking to sell.  After researching online, I feel that if I list these on eBay, then I can probably get the following amounts for each after deducting eBay's seller's fee.  Each game comes with HuCard, Instruction Manual, and Jewel Case and is in good shape.

$X - Game title
$X - Game title
$X - Game title
$X - Game title
$X - Game title

If anyone is looking for any (or all) of these games at the price that I listed, then please PM within the next 7 days, because anything let after then will go to eBay.  I am also open to offers but, as previously stated, I feel that I can probably get around the price that I listed, and I really need the funds, so I may not be able to discount very much.

Thank you for your interest in my FS thread."

If a seller were to post the above example here, I don't feel that it would be appropriate to beat him over the head, saying things like, "Your prices are too high!  Stop gouging!  You're an idiot if you expect to get that much!" etc...  A little civility can go a long way.

I appreciate any member who makes a FS thread here, even if the prices are above what I'm currently willing (or able) to pay.  I mean, current WTB threads far outnumber current FS threads here 29 to 9, maybe that's an indication that perceived market value in this community is lower than actual market value?  (I'm not trying to start a fire here, but I'm just wondering.)  I'm totally willing to join a community and even have 'member discounts', but that doesn't mean that everyone should be required to do so.

...my $0.02

Well, your .02 is certainly appreciated.  However, it was not his prices that caused all this.  It was his reaction and things he said afterwards.

If the seller's prices are too high, then why ridicule and antagonize him?  Just ignore him.

Seeing as this is a community, it's entirely appropriate to warn other members of attempts at gouging, and this thread didn't turn ugly until after he responded with a hearty 'f*ck you' to those that said his pricing was off.

I mean, if Best Buy is selling a new Wii game that you want to purchase for $39 and Target is selling it for $89, then do you go protest in front of Target?  No, you go purchase it at Best Buy, and you ignore Target.  It's the same principle here.

Not even close to the same.  This is not a retail store where public discussion has little to no place - this is a forum with the sole purpose of public discussion; if you want one way communication (or none at all), stick to eBay.

Actually, if you read the first 2 posts made right after this thread was started, you can already see the antagonism starting.

First response post:

Second response post:

It seems as though the responses are meant to belittle the TC's prices (and the TC himself to some extent).

I am NOT defending the TC's descent into incivility as well as not defending the attacks made against him.  What I AM for, instead, is a return to courtesy.  If you don't like the prices that something is being sold for, then either ignore it or make an offer (and not an offer that is ridiculously below market value).

there was a history before this thread. its good people get called out here. i kinda saw this coming. there are a lot of turbo hungry folks here and some try to take advantage...one thing i hate is no prices and the f*cken "make offers" that shit sucks. youll offer then they say well he was higher....how the f*ck do i know that? people play this little game with vw shit too so i am tired of some of those f*cks. just name your f*cken price!! But Swiss's attitude has kinda been a bit shady from the start.

Actually, if you read the first 2 posts made right after this thread was started, you can already see the antagonism starting.

First response post:

Second response post:
Yeah that sounds a tad high, maybe included is Bonk 3, nope do not see it oh well. :|

Yes i did call him out on his asking prices, I seen his pricing was off and told him he wasnt gonna get what he was asking for. Considering in his original post he said he only purchased the lot for 1 rare game. but maybe he would get trade offers and good luck to him. I wasnt starting a mob to banish him just if he wanted ebay prices he should go there.

The people in the forums give great deals on games even rare games. So yea we all are gonna be calling someone out for high asking prices when almost all of us are in it to enjoy the games at a reasonable cost.

"After researching online, I feel that if I list these on eBay, then I can probably get the following amounts for each after deducting eBay's seller's fee."
Ebay price research is not a neutral way of determining value because ebay prices are insane. You should come to grips with this fact quickly because it's a common point of contention between newcomers and old-timers around here. Anyone who shows up posting ebay prices is quickly told to GTFO. PCEFX is not the only community that does this.

You're also overlooking one BIG difference between a wannabe seller like Swiss and retailers like Target - Target doesn't come around here asking us how much things are worth, how to repair its systems, and how to complete its collection. Like I said before, Swiss entered a raffle for Air Zonk the same day he posted this sale, for christ sake. Benefiting from the help and goodwill of others builds relationships; building relationships opens a person up to criticism. Anyone who can't tolerate criticism is perfectly welcome to f*ck off, go back to ebay/racketboy/gamefaqs, and not ask us for help.

That said, you do have a point: there was a level of trolling in those first two responses and there certainly have been sellers with first-post sale threads who've been run out of town when a little civility might have shown them the light. Swiss isn't one of them.

Here's the OP. Notice that $150 was only the RESERVE - he expected us to bid for this.

I know that I'm a new member of this community, but after reading all of the angst in this thread, I feel compelled to speak up.

I'm glad you spoke up, I agree with most of your post. This forum seems slightly plagued with the idea that all turbo games should be guaranteed cheap, and that anyone who spends more than what they feel is a reasonable price, is "the enemy."

That said, this guy was being an a$$hole across the forums. He was asking for rock-bottom prices on TG stuff, and then turning around to resell for a boat load of cash. Yeah, people were slightly antagonistic at first, but he started the cussing and total meltdown of this topic.

honestly, this thread should be closed. Its obvious how both sides feel, and the OP isnt going to sell his stuff in this thread, nor are forum members going to buy anything from him

I think the point has been made...

Close this thread? Or ignore this guy and what he is doing?...guys come on.......

look we may seem harsh but we mean well, this is the only haven where fair prices exist and deals are to be found, also how many forums do you see that raffle off the amount of stuff this place does? This is a good place with good people.

We are passionate about our beloveded TG/Cd/duo and pce and will defend prices and destroy gougers.... Why can't we defend what we love and enjoy to play..... Look at us as positive as without this place eBay/ racket boy and others would set stupid standards on the value of the games and consoles we love.

Thanks. The great thing is that anyone's posts can be hyperlinked into the list and it can be reused. It was inspired by Royvegas and JohnnyBlaze, I wrote it for Kamiboy, and months later I dug it up for the Swiss debacle and it fit him like a glove.

Ha! Even better. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

TANGENT: I know that folks will skewer me for this, but did anyone save the information that RoyVegas compiled when he was building his collection? He had a basic website with photos of all the TG-16 software + items that would make each release  "complete". It seemed like he did a thorough job (and the photos were of decent quality...not as artistic as I would have liked, but utilitarian). I would recycle all of that stuff as a resource for folks. I've been meaning to ask this question for a long time, but kept forgetting (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png).

Ask Roy himself.  Last I knew the photos were still online and the links to 'em worked.

I have them all.  I talked with him about letting me archive it.  I plan to get a website up at some point with the pictures and trying to give similar information on other systems of the same era that are also not well documented.  (Sega CD, 3DO, Jaguar).  I would need his approval to send them out since I only got his permission to use them as described.

His "TurboGrafx CollectingBragging Reference" seems to still be online, but can't be freely browsed without a password. I stumbled across this a while back while googling "turbografx cleaning kit":

It's not much of a reference. It's just pictures everything roy happened to buy during his three-month Turbogasm and most of his shit wasn't actually complete. IIRC, he was missing the Players' Stats book and most of the posters and stickers that originally came with games. He had some rare items, like a TG16 display book, but lacked common things like the Stack Rack.

I know that folks will skewer me for this, but did anyone save the information that RoyVegas compiled when he was building his collection?

Well, to skewer both of you a little bit, I say let that f*cker rot. Don't fan his ego by turning his half-assed, former collection into a monument. Considering it was the only thing he ever did that might be construed as beneficial to the community, it's pretty safe to say he was simply showcasing of his personal collection. It was his chance to publicly throw his slab on the ruler for fifteen minutes and fetishize his money spent before selling everything off and profiting on our hobby. If he'd ever actually been interested in creating a comprehensive reference he would have invited contributions and/or asked permission to use photos of others' rarities. It's also important to remember that deleting his precious gift to the community was an attempt to give us the finger after criticizing his gouging. f*ck him.

I totally understand your feelings on using RoyVegas's photos.

However, the origin of the photos really doesn't negate their usefulness.

That said, I don't care enough to seek out the photos because they were aesthetically-challenged. Had RoyVegas taken the time to compose his photos with a bit more flair (à la Aaron Nanto), you better believe I'd be using all the goddamn photos :) to create a reference guide. Thankfully, I have been spared this moral dilemma (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png).

Anyway, the logistical problem (for me) is that I would want all the images standardized and uniform (lighting, composition) and RoyVegas' photos actually satisfied this criteria (namely, consistency).

Oh well. I'm glad I missed all the RoyVegas drama that went down.

I feel the desire to switch topics, so....
