Have any of you ever played this? I know it was a "new take" on Power Instinct and I really dig the artwork. Seems like it could be an interesting fighter to have on the system.

It's...pretty bad, IMO. The manual has nice pictures in it though. I assume this is expensive now?
-
I never played it for Saturn, but the ST-V cart was pretty bad ass.

Not really, about $30 bucks or so with some looking around.

It's a rather poor port on Saturn. The STV cart is a lot better. But personally I just stick to Matrimelee these days.

I've got a copy of this. Haven't played it too much but it's nothing too special. Just a fairly average 2D fighter with decent graphics and characters.

Well, to counter all the hate, I like Groove on Fight. When it was new, it was a change of pace from the Capcom fighters. Plays well, has some charactor in the charactors. I'd put it on the same shelf as Waku Waku, Asuka or Rabbit. I wouldn't run a tourney with it at a con, but I would have it running in the retro area since most folks would have forgotten or never seen it.
Don't get me wrong here; Game like Alpha, SamSho or Nightwarriors all wipe the floor with this game. If you want to hate on some Saturn fighters, just look most of the non-Sega 3D ones (Im looking at you Toshinden and Final Fight Revenge!)

You'd put Rabbit on the same level as Waku Waku 7? I would not.
It's interesting that people are saying the STV version is better. Every STV game I've played was almost indistinguishable from the Saturn version of the same game except the Saturn version would just have more shit thrown in because it was a home version and on CD space is almost intimate. I'm thinking of Sakura Columns and Radient Silvergun, for examples

Saturn Groove On is missing animation, even after using the ram cart, and has load time.

That's pretty f*cking lame.

That sounds lame.
How bad is it?

IMO, all the Neo->Saturn fighting game ports suck, mainly case SNK's insistence on sticking to the 1mb ram cart. Well ok Galaxy Fight is perfect, but who really plays Galaxy Fight? KoF'95 is good, but that uses ROM, not RAM so it doesn't count.

Yeah, I have a bunch of the NeoGeo to Saturn ports because they are generally cheapo under $5 games and worth having, but there are better ports to be had for the Dreamcast or PS2. Or you could just get an MVS system and be done with it!
