Based on Hardcoreotaku's post about the portable PC Engine, I had another idea for an LT of sorts, but I think I like this one better than my previous ideas.
Quite simply, the idea is just to get a Tennokoe bank or an AV booster, strip out the innards and replace with batteries, then connect a screen with a hinge to the frame, and wire it to the power and the requisite output on the connector. Hey presto, it's an LT adaptor :) Obvs, you don't have the controls, but it would be a nice solution for portable multiplayer obey.
I think IIRC the PC engine is about 5.5" by 5.5", so you'd just need a screen that big. Gonna look now.
Rghh, I've forgotten how to search for small screens. Do you just have to exclude words to stop desktop monitors, phone screens and laptop screens showing?
Well I've searched a few, but the pain in the ass is finding a 7" screen in 3-4. And even that might be too big...
it's a bust. I remember it being hard to find before. Anyone know a source for a 7" non widescreen LCD that takes composite?

I think its a pretty nifty idea myself :)

DealExtreme have lots of LCD screens. I have this one here, it's 8" with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and works very well. Not sure how well it would work for a portable PCE though or how you would power it via batteries.

Something like this might be better suited though, and a lot cheaper: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/35a-3-5-tft-lcd-digital-monitor-for-vehicle-parking-reverse-camera-960x240-12v-dc-57774?item=148

Fanks Frank; I've seen the 3.5" natch, but I think it's a tad small for sharing. And the 8" is just too big. maybe I should look for something in the 5" range.

Check out what I stumbled across on YHJ:

Not bad - does it say how big it is? Just a little smaller, and it would be flippable!
bollocks, I thought I's just found one, but the seller just got all his facts wrong:

"480 X 24" and "4:3" are clearly wrong.

Can't you just use a portable TV to connect it without modding, or is the purpose of the thread to physically mod it to the console? I have a 7" portable TV that works great and connects video AV cables.

Part of the excitement there is its using one power adapter.

Yeah, I pretty much want to make an LT.

You could use the PS1 screen, it hooks up via RGB and would look fantastic. I have a pic of one on here hooked up to a Duo and it is 5".

I love how the monitor is BOLTED with brackets to the PCE:

You guys are CRZY in your quest to re-create an LT.
But I still love you for it.

I love this idea! LT's cost an arm and a leg. Great idea i wanna see a finished product!
