Okay, so, I got a new job recently & have been figuring out how to better budget how I spend my paychecks. I'm currently saving up to fix my car, but I typically put aside about $30-$50 for fun stuff. I've also been trying to use this small chunk o' the budget to acquire the more "big-ticket" items on my WTB list, instead of the cheapy, readily-available games I tend to buy shit tons of. So right now I have a few options on how to spend my next bit of cash & am having difficulty in deciding which option to go with.
1. Obey.
The most obvious choice, of course. After all, I only have two games for my PCE. I was thinking I could get two normally-priced games, or perhaps one slightly more expensive one, should a reasonably priced copy of Raiden or Soldier Blade appear. Here are some of the games I'd consider (not that everyone on this forum isn't familiar with which games I want by this point -.- )
Thunder Blade
Darius Plus
After Burner
Gradius
Image Fight
The catch here is, I'm currently unable to play my PCE, as I'm waiting for a controller to arrive. Also, feel free to recommend any other similar games you feel would be worthwhile.
2. Uchuu Keibitai SDF (Space Defending Force) for the Famicom.
A splendid little shootie by HAL with great graphics. This is my last "holy grail" of Famicom game collecting. I know someone on another forum I could buy this from, providing they still have it for sale. If not, I guess I'm SOL.
3. SuperCard Mini-SD GBA Flash Cart.
This is something I recently discovered. I hadn't really been all that interested in flash carts, as they're typically very expensive & I'd rather just collect the games themselves. However, this one is pretty reasonably priced & the idea of being able to play all my favorite SMS, NES, GG, and PCE games on my Gameboy Micro is freaking awesome. Plus, it's only about $35, so I'd have a little chump change left over.
4. ColecoVision.
Found a working one on craigslist for $40. That's a pretty good deal, if it's still available. Games for it are relatively cheap, too. However, I literally have zero space for more game consoles. My 2600 is teetering precariously on the edge of my shelf as it is. Still...I'd really love to not have to pay $70+ for a ColecoVision on ebay...
5. Game Gear Games.
Need more good games for my GG! I mainly want Ninja Gaiden, Fantasy Zone Gear, and Halley Wars, but those aren't terribly expensive, so I could still probably get a few other cheapies like Desert Strike, Outrun, Road Rash, GG Shinobi II, etc.
So what do you guys think? Which area do you think most deserves my hard-earned cash?

Get your holy grail - SDF. Stuff like that doesn't turn up often and if you miss it, you'll regret it.
After that, get Raiden or PCE Soldier Blade or Thunder Blade so you have something nice to play on your PCE.
If you're already drowning in systems, skip the ColecoVision. It's not THAT good a deal and you won't miss it once your PCE controller arrives.
The GBA flash cart falls within your monthly Fun Budget and you can buy it anytime -no hurry. If it goes out of production and you miss it, better forms of emulation are always around the corner.
The Game Gear is a fun novelty, but how much serious gaming can to really do on that screen?

I have a loose copy of Afterburner II for sale!

GoToBeY
Gradius
After burner
Image fight
end of line

What does Obey mean?

What does Obey mean?
It's a secret code word:
Obey [oh-bey]: to comply with or follow the commands, restrictions, wishes, or instructions of: to obey NEC.
One of the unwritten laws here is you must obey. The pursuit of all things NEC is to obey. The more you obey, the more you will grok the term. :D

Those are all really good points! I think I'll probably indeed go with SDF, unless a cheaper copy of Raiden shows up.
There is, however, one more option that I forgot to mention...
6. Famicom Disk System.
I can obtain one of these, with the belt replaced, from a forum member. It will, however, stretch my budget just a bit. Still, being able to play Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, etc. in their original FM-enhanced glory would be amazing, and I am just DYING to play Falsion! (dat music...thanks again, Konami!)

LOL. our storino, much to learn he still must. yes :D

I love my FDS, but overall it would be low on the priority list since you have to order most everything from japan. Most of the games aren't that expensive, but paying 8 dollars shipping on 5 dollar games sucks. I can rewrite FDS disks, btw.

4. ColecoVision.
heheh...

FDS is cool, as long as it's been correctly calibrated. How much are you wanting to spend on one, they're not that expensive from Japan?

Well normally they are a bit pricey, but I can get one for between $50-$60 shipped...which would stretch my budget just a bit, but may just be worth it.

better forms of emulation are always around the corner.
Like a PSP fat for example.

I know what the word means, I just didn't get the relationship to this forum site. People aren't allowed to ask questions anymore?

If you don't have one, you could get a Supergrafx in the box like this one

Pretty cool looking system.

You know, I never considered getting a Supergrafx before today. Watched some gameplay of "Battle Ace" and that game looks awesome. Still, over $100 for a console for me is a bit much. :/
-
I know, it sounds crazy to pay as much or even more than what a PS3 / X360 goes for. But it happens.

Wow, and that was still the by far least good looking game on the system.

Hey all, quick question...Sagaia or Lightening Force?
-
Thunder force IV all the way man

Hey all, quick question...Sagaia or Lightening Force?
As long as you stay away from the SNES (Thunder Spirits) installent, you'll be fine.
BUT THUNDERFORCE IS THE ONLY WAY.
-
Hahaha alright guys, I took your advice. Ordered Lightening Force. :D
