Title: Controller rapid fire question/theory

With the exception of original PCE controller, all controllers has auto fire option.  While looking at schematic, I noticed that the rapid fire chip (74HC173 or 74hc163) there are 4 outputs but only 2 is used.  If I were to replace the switch (inside controller, SP3T type) with one that is SP4T, I could add in 3rd rapid fire option from pin 11, which would allow for extra slow auto fire (about 1/2 speed of normal slow)

I'm not sure if there would be any benefit from extra fast fire (pin 14) as it's 2x that of normal fast fire and I haven't run into any game that can use faster firing.

So any good reason to add extra slow fire option?  SP4T slide switch is fairly easy and inexpensive but the stock controller won't look good unless you find micro sized version.

A faster setting would be useful. The higher speeds on the XE-1 and Turbostick are allow bullets to be pumped into enemies in Raiden faster than a turbopad will allow.

You could also add a simple schmitt trigger device with an analogue pot. so you could regulate from very lowest up to fastest ever possible.
