Post by: MottZilla on August 08, 2012, 04:33:13 PM
Where did this Turbob term come from and what is it supposed to mean? Just curious.

I don't know.  I think we should add another o and start saying Turboob.

When I was new to the forum (really not very long ago) and I first came across the term "turbob" I thought to myself "What strange vernacular, I wonder what it means." and proceeded to read through old threads until it was grokked.  I'm honestly flabbergasted at the number of new members that post "What does turbob mean" or "What does obey mean" or any of the other myriad questions that new folks ask without doing seemingly ANY research into this community.

Actually I'm not a new member. It wasn't until last night that I actually paid much attention to "Turbob", so I googled it and found nothing so I figured I'd just ask. My favorite response was that was the name of the Kid on the TurboGrafx 16 box.

Personally I think the term's a bit gay, so I never use it.  Also I think that the turbo looks like ass, and is an insult to the superior design aesthetics of the PC Engine.

I never use it, myself, because it is goofy.

Yes, it's true I do a lot of things that may be considered, by others, to be "goofy" (or worse).

But the term in question is too goofy for me.

That said, I'm not going to prevent others from enjoying the blessed thing. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

I'm surprised it's not self evident. First time I saw Turbob: "WTF?" Second time: "oh...that's stupid."

Personally I think the term's a bit gay, so I never use it.

Esteban, that's legendary.  You should ask him if he's related to TurboT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbot_War

Oooh!  There's someone called "the Turbotonator" and "Captain Canada"!
