Okay. So I just purchased a supergrafx and more recently the super cd-rom2 unit. Being that I just shelled out some solid cash for the systems, I decided to buy a cd-r backup of castlevania x (not the one on ebay) to test out the super cd-rom2 unit.
I popped in the game, played a bit of it and the audio stopped during the german intro and then the music cut out of the actual level after playing through a couple scenes. However, the sound effects remained.
I figure I should buy a real game to test whether it is the backup or the cd-rom unit that is causing the problem. The seller recommended switching the AV cable to the cd-rom unit from the supergrafx but the problem persisted. Any other recommendations? I am using the original power supply from the super cd-rom unit as well. I don't know if this would factor into the equation.

While your waiting to buy an original cd game, you might want to try playing a music cd. If you don't hear any music your super-cd system might just caught the plague.
-
Or you could just pop the CDR in your computer and play the music since it's all redbook, that'll tell you if the CDR is good or not. Sounds like it's probably the system though, mine does the exact same thing unless I turn it upside down or on it's side while it's playing.

I tried playing the audio on power dvd; I opened "track01.cda" and I hear birds chirping, giggling and then a conversation between a young child and an adult in japanese. Sounds like something out of the regular dragonball series. Is this some kind of sick joke?

On second thought, Symphony of the night does have a strange message on it as well if you pop it in a cd player...
-
Alright, I popped the cd-r in my cd player and the tracks are there... It seems to play fine so I guess I will try flipping the system upside down or sideways. Hope it works for me too. Does anyone know the translation for track 1 (little boy giggling skit thing)?

Hah that's awesome, I'm sure it's probably just a warning that it's a data track and can harm your CD player like all those old games used to have, although those wacky japanese people always found ways to make even the warnings interesting (I remember a couple games I used to have had the actual characters warning you instead of just a generic message).
Oh also, it might just be that the media that the disc was burned on is crappy. You could rip it to your computer and re-burn it yourself with different CDRs, I believe Alcohol 120% does a damn fine job of that if you can't get CDRWin working properly.

Snatcher also has the main characters(Gillian and Metal Gear) warning you about playing the game in a CD player.
I'm guessing that the other Konami CD's probably have something original as well.

Don't forget about Working Design's TGCD games where they have a silly warning voice and loud sirens. By the way, am I the only person who is attracted to the voice of that chick who says the CD error message in a lot of Turbo CD games? I hope she doesn't turn out to be some really ugly woman :( .

Voice actress chicks ALWAYS turn out to be ugly, that's why they're voice actresses and not real actresses.

She sounds like an elementary school teacher.
But whatever floats yer boat.

I know, it's really the truth man :( . Same thing goes with those phone sex girls; they always turn out to be some super overweight woman with hairy armpits. I don't know about you guys, but I have faith in the Turbo CD voice chick, and it has been my personal quest to find her. Help would be appreciated! I don't know what it is, it's just such a soft and almost "futuristic" voice, kind of like an elementary school teacher like Black Tiger said, which is maybe what attracts me sine I have a thing for the mature women 8) . Oh well, she'll probably turn out to have balding hair.

Hahahhahahaa. OK! I've never given this much though, but it would be kool to find out who the woman was who did the warning track for TG-CDs.
She does sound like an elementary school teacher! But I'm with Keranu -- she could have been a real cutie pie back in 1989 :).
I love the direction this thread has taken!

Haha, oh crap, I just looked at the thread title and it's about the Super Grafx with Super CDROM2 CD-R issue. Maybe this should have it's own thread!
