hello,
which are in your opinion the top 3 rpgs on the turbo duo?
my top 3 as of now, consists
1. Ys IV: Dawn of Ys
great graphics, awesome red book audio and smooth gameplay. the bad guys are also pretty cool. on the negative side, it is damn short (it took me only 14 hours to finish).
2. Startling Odyssey 2
graphics, music are both not as good as the ones seen and heard in ys iv, but the characters are absolutely likeable und the many anime cutscenes are awesome.
storywise restings at an inn present you most times an awesome night scene where the two male heroes peep on the two girls. also nipples can be seen. great stuff and the adventures playtime is decent (around 24 hours).
3. Emerald Dragon
easily ranking among the best of the best with the great graphics, cutscenes, characters, music and battle gameplay. playtime is around 25 hours and there is no hour where this game does not shine!
legend of xanadu 2:
it has one of the best graphics and music on the system but is definetely to short, 10 hours aint enough. i still have to beat part 1, but i dont like the fetch quest heavy system of this one. part 2 is much more fast forward. maybe i will change my opinion after i beat part 1. right now i dont really know if i should rank it an place 3, but because of playtime i selected emerald dragon to be my number 3.
currently iam playing tengai makyou 1 right now and iam close to finish. it could stand in my top 3 as 3rd best, but i have to play other rpgs to make a final descision.
in my collection there are also manjimaru, kabuki den, cosmic fantasy 2/4-1, xak I+II/III, alshark, tenshi no uta 1/2, dragon knight 2/3, dragon slayer 2, babel, neo metal fantasy, startling odyssey 1,la valeur and i dont really know which game to start after finishing TM1.
any suggestions?
playtimes i wrote in my top 3 are my times to finish a game. Iam a jrpg pro (haha^^), played through around 50 titles now on nearly every console. If you are not familiar with jrpgs it should take you a while longer to beat these games. You can add around 5-10 hours or so. ;)

The PCE is not really an RPG machine. It is an J-RPG ( Kirby ) machine, Arcade, graphics machine. I guess you mean those.
They all seem pretty OKAY, there is too many to count.
A reasonable RPG to play, is that one about the reconstruction of Japan, that takes place in a post apocalyptic Akira future like world. "In another world" is part of it's name. It has everything that Linda has but
less Kite.
Following that is Linda...........
( I love my present day, paranorma, god games )
finally it would be, Sol Moon, because I am very sure that MarioRPG
ripped off this game.
.........................
Adventure Island, Dragons Trap
Fiend Hunter....is the Princess crown of the PCE. Westernize ancient time world and everything, Take it nice and slow unlike Y's III,
Popful mail
Y's IV is awesome as well, because the ending makes sense.
At least it did more justice then Indiana Jones ending.
Xak 1-3
Brandish is another one'
Their is also this Y's typish game for the Hu-card but it is extremly difficult.

1.) Ys 1 & 2 - Best action RPG ever
2.) DE2 - Because it's soo much fun to play
3.) Ys 4 - Awesome game, just not as "epic" as 1 & 2
-
The most auwsome part about Ys 1 is finishing the game below a certain level, which is almost impossible, it was just like beating MMlegends on a low level. Also darkfact does the cancan in high heels, in the credits.

I'd prefer to keep my action RPGs separate.
My top three action RPGs:
Ys 1/2
Xak 1/2
Burai
I loosely place Fray into action RPGs, but that game might as well be a f*ckin "whatever Legend of Valkyrie is".
I have chosen to not group Brandish, or any of the Dungeon Crawlers into either category, because to me again, those are different games.
My top dungeon crawlers are:
Wizardry 5
Brandish (It's not first person, but its still a dungeon crawler. Its like a Roguelike on crack)
Outlive (If this game didn't exist, it would be Death Bringer)
Outlive surprised me.

Ys I & II - great story line and tunes
Ys IV - ditto, but not quite as epic
LoX - very pretty, long, beautiful cut scenes, and pretty fair tunes (even if they are chippy)
-
Tengai Makyo II
Emerald Dragon
Dragon Slayer
Dragon Knight 3 almost made it.
For A/RPG's
Ys Book I&II
LoX1

TM/FEOE Fuun Kabukiden
Ys IV
DEII

Noone else likes Burai?
pfsht.

Noone else likes Burai?
pfsht.
I love Burai. The things about it that others complain about are what I like most. It's just not a favorite before so many other games.
-
That's a hard one...
Ys I&II
Tengai Makyo II
Ys IV
Startling Odyssey 2 and Star Breaker are close for me though. Anyone who likes SO2, btw, should try Star Breaker.

Action RPG- Ys I&II, Ys IV, and Dungeon Explorer II-
Ys I&II was the first game that EVERYONE fell in love with. CD audio, great story, just perfect game.
Ys IV is everyone Ys I&II had but better grafx and music was amazing! I think the ONLY reason I don't love this one as much as Book I&II is because for most of my life I was playing it in moon roon language.
Dungeon Explorer II is one of the finest action rpgs I've ever seen. 5 Player ARPG!! Yes please!!
Also enjoyed Neutopia, Shape Shifter and Ys III
For traditional point and click/ turn based/ dungeon crawlers:
Cosmic Fantasy 2, Gulliver Boy, Beyond Shadowgate(Could be considered Action Adventure... I don't F'n know!!)!! I also love the hell out of LOOM!!
Only about 8 hours into Emerald Dragon (1st ever playthrough) so it's hard to say whether I love this one or not, but so far I really like what I've seen!!
Also -Might and Magic III, Dungeon Master: TQ, OutLive (Yes, fun as hell!!), and Silent Debuggers, cause it's pretty damn cool if you give it a chance!!

Burai is great so far, and obviously is extremely enjoyable. Anybody bad mouthing it, is because they do not realize this is a port, done during the NES era I believe, among other games..........Last Armageddon.
Shape Shifter is magnificent, but without a proper save system, the game is annoying just to own. This is before DKC, and Ecco? SS was released in the same year as Ecco, but their was also two animal
games for the Amiga I believe.
Shape Shifter, seriously if they had animated or FMV graphics in that game, it would blow away everything else graphical wise, It feels like
playing an NES game with the heart of a Saturn game. I love how the
beggars are seen as enemies, first they beg, and then they strike,
and a coin flies out, and they are in crutches. Also try coming into the
town as an animal, Some enemies in the game are too extreme but that is how things were.
Neutopia was cool, until I started to get lost like Zelda, and then alright
-
Ys 1&2
Ys IV
Neutopia
Sure i listed mostly arpg but that's most i've played on it not so much for the turned based ones.
