Post by: Black Tiger on September 10, 2012, 02:34:43 PM
For those of you who are interested in sealed games, even one as common as Ys III, the minimum bid is $59.99 and it is in much better condition than the fugly copy on eBay for $1999.99.

If I won this, I'd pop its cherry in a heartbeat

Me too, however I would do it classy. Light a few candles, put on a Ys soundtrack CD, and ease it open with a letter opener, before inserting into my TGCD.

"Minimum bid starts at $1940.00 cheaper than the ratty old, worn, stickered and only other sealed copy currently up for sale on eBay."

You're my hero, Black Tiger.

We'll see if you feel the same way after it ends at whatever it does.

So far there are three bids.

The lowest bidder is an actual Turbo buyer who seems interested in playing games.

The second highest bidder is a huge Turbo reseller. If they manage to win I imagine that it will get relisted for at least double what they pay.

The highest bidder only buys games, but recently bought other pricey sealed Turbo games.

Whatever it ends at, it is going towards vet bills.

I'm the high bidder right now. I promise I do more than buy games.  :-s

EDIT: I think I took that the wrong way. No I don't sell games, yes I do buy them. I also play them and Ys III is one of my favorites on the system. :)

EDIT MORE: Yes I already own this. I promise worst case if I win is a copy of Ys III gets raffled.

Well, I'm actually the "...actual Turbo buyer who seems interested in playing games.".  Thanks for the compliment, by the way.  I actually am interested in playing games.

I actually just picked up Ys Book 1 & 2 recently, and so now I'm looking to find Ys III for a reasonable price.  It seems that with a little patience, I should be able to find a decent complete (no box) copy for $35 shipped or under.  When I saw this pop up, I figured that for a brand new copy, I could scrape up a few more shekels.  Unfortunately, the bid has gone up, and I really don't want to go over $90 shipped, even though it is a very nice copy.  So, as far as I'm concerned, I'm bowing out of this one, and I hope that Sadler wins this and sells me his current copy.  :P

I am interested in how you came up with your bidders' information though, because after looking at the bid history, I couldn't have inferred what you did.

Only the seller gets to see who the bidders are. I just glanced at their feedback history.

The same - you can't control what others bid.  I'm just happy to see an honest description that isn't filled with the word 'rare' or referencing unsold, retard BIN prices to set its value.  Good luck to you and your ill kitty/doggie/bunny/turtle/llama.

And before any clown comes along and accuses me of using a different yardstick than used in the gouging thread, there's a difference between gougers and self-imposed gouging: gougers are douchebags for inflating prices, but it's the buyer that's the ijit when initially reasonable auctions end far higher than they should.

Yikes!  I didn't win. That's twice what I bid.

Wow!  I saw that too.  It went higher than I figured that it would go.

My sealed copy also went for $260 in April.
