Title: Streets of Rage Movie
Post by: vestcoat on September 20, 2012, 10:14:15 PM
I was just reading about Blast Processing and watching old Genesis commercials when I stumbled across this Streets of Rage "movie" on Youtube, filmed just across the river from my house in downtown Minneapolis!
Nothing jaw dropping, but the scope of the work is impressive. I can't believe how many locations and fights are staged. Also, as I grow older and realize how easy it is to injure myself doing dumb things on bikes or playing baseball, I have a healthy respect for the amount of hooliganism the actors pull off, fighting under bridges, doing the occasional flip, and jumping off walls.
If watching part 1 becomes wearisome, I recommend jumping to part 2 for the fight with Electra and then skipping to the finale that starts around the 4:00 mark.

It's very refreshing to see people walking around in leather vests, bandanas, and fingerless gloves.

Have you been to Columbus Ohio? Apparantly that's normal there.

Looks like one of the Ninja Gaiden arcade henchmen appears at 1:38 mark of the first video. He is really polite too, shuts the vans side door.

.........meh They should have just filmed the locations, and make a dreamcast game, instead with pre-rendered backgrounds ( like Resident Evil ). Meh....

Have no idea what you just said...
Anyways, I for one got a huge kick out of watching this. Yes it could've used some editing to cut the length down, but i applaud them for all the great locations/backgrounds. Seeing them film near the baseball stadium, over the bridge, the dark parkways...great stuff. And on top of all this, props for having the guts to film this stuff in public too! I'd be friggin' embarrassed to pull that shit on the street! Too bad no Blaze #-o

Heh! That was pretty cool. What's that city coming to where you can't even go out at a night for a little walk without running into hooligans every other minute ?? ;) Well, I never played SOR, so I don't have the context with all the sound effects, but I still can appreciate it. The first two videos that I've seen in a similar vain to this that stand out for me are these: or

Why would that be embarassing? One time I saw this
Japanese girl in loli/popstar/ type fashion, and somebody was video tapping her with a big home video camera ( not the crappy mini cameras , the big one with VHS, or something ), more recent.
What would be messed up, if an undercover officer tried to give them a ticket for filming without an license. Also the violence, might force an officer to pull out their gun, and might actually fire.
Another problem is what people do when they see a fight. In real life they do three things now. Run to the fight like if it is the greatest thing in the world, call the police, or start filming. Ironically nobody tries to break up a fight.
This hometown Mayor near where I lived, tried to break up a fight, between two gang members, he was almost killed in the proccess, and said that is something he will never do again.

HOLY SNAP! I love this. There are so many nice little touches. Goldie! Kicking the traffic cones for powerups! Van full of hooligans! Etc. Etc.
Plus, if I knew the locales, it would be even better. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)
