Title: PC Engine's 25th birthday party in Paris
Post by: shubibiman on September 21, 2012, 09:40:04 PM
Hey guies, just in case some of you were in Paris on that day :

For those who don't know Paris, the bar where this party will take place is in the Saint-Michel area, one of the coolest spots in Paris.

Anyone here that can translate French to English?

It's apparently at some restaurant and they'll have a bomberman tournament with prizes and maybe all the music will be PCE music as well as PCE playing stations.

That's it ;)
It's not exactly a restaurant but a bar.

Did Hudson sponsor the event and attend, selling their 25th anniversary reprints of Sapphire, Space Fantasy Zone and Rockman?

My French sucks, but this is what I read:

-background music is all PC Engine music
-drinks are available
-4 PC Engine units set-up
-there is a tournament for Bomberman '94 and lots of of prizes

I just learned that in France, the PC-Engine is a she.

(Even though separately, a "PC" and an "engin(e)" are masculine...  :?: )

For that question, you'd rather look at Germany.

In french a video game system is called "console", which is a feminine word.

Sounds fun, take some pics!

I will ;)

but what's about "le jeu vidéo" which again is masculine?  :P

It's a game, not a game console ;)

yeah, but it is also commonly used for video games incl. the systems they play on ;)

but I know, it's the similar case in German.

Die Console (F), das Videospiel (N)

but the funny part, we say like "Die PC Engine" but, "Das Mega Drive / Super Famicom/Nes".

so yeah, the PCE must obviously be a female :)

Because it is pppppppppppppppppppcccccccccccceeeeeeeeeee engine

Try saying it with an acent sometime, and you will get it.

Why do you think it has slot facing you, instead of a floppy sticking up?

What is even better is the game system is sooo tight, hard, small, creamy dreamy PCE, tiggggggghhhhhttttttt........aahh, PCcccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeee,
and is so kawaaaaiiii, as well.

PC Engine is male, but MD and NES/SNES is neuter? By the Hammer or Thor, why???

We miss you on chat, by the way. Come back!!!!!!! Also, do you have the American silliness known as the Turbografx-16?

The Neo-geo is a man. The PCE is a Geisha.

In French, all the systems are female because they're all a "console". The same goes for cars, "voiture (french for car)" is a feminin word so we say "une Mustang" or "une BMW".

The ideal

.....................

PCE could also be PCP........the wondee drug of game systems

.........................

The PCE is soo cool, you could wear it like jewlery and have a powe pak, and portable display and still play normal.
I could carry that thing on outside in leather as well, and still look cool with a keyboard on my wrist.

Exactly. But in Quebec we also use the company name as in "a Nintendo" or "a Sega" then both are male in this case. I personnaly never used the feminine when refering to a console as i call them by their name "NES, Genesis, Saturn, TG-16 etc) and they are all masculine.

As for the translation of the add:

On the first floor, lounge style with 100% OST from the PC-Engine library (Soundchip and redbook audio)

In the basement: 4 stations with PC Engine and a Bomberman 94 tournament with prizes.

If you need translation feel free to ask.

That's only the basement you can see here. The first floor was crowded too and a bunch of other people were out in the street drinking and talking. I honestly didn't expect such a crowd but everything went smoothly. :)

Hey shubi, I'm glad I ran into this thread. I had removed any links to necstasy, as the last time I tried, all the links were dead! The site was down for a while, correct ? And when was it restored ?

http://www.necstasy.net/

Also, what ever happened to Squaresoft74 ?? I haven't heard from him in ages... Is he still around ?
Title: Re: PC Engine's 25th birthday party in Paris
Post by: shubibiman on October 27, 2012, 10:11:43 PM
Squaresoft74 has left the community for personnal reasons almost 2 years ago. ;(
I Pmed him a couple of times but never heard back from him since my last PM. He was really the kind of secret guy who didn't talk much about him so that's all I know. It's sad as most of the guies who designed PCE websites or forums back in the late 1990's or early 2000's have all left the scene. ;(

Oh, so he is still MIA... Hasn't been heard from again. I thought something was up, figured I would've heard from him by now. I guess it'd be a dumb question as to what kind of personal reasons exactly or ? No indication whatsoever ?

Oops, didn't mean to show that version of the picture. Flo is the guy who created Pix N Love Editions, the company that releases La Bible PC Engine. You can see me in the below section of the pic, with a beard, glasses and blue shirt.
