I can get by with plain ol' Benedryl (or generic equivalent) - usually just a half dose and put up with a little runny nose and itchy eyes, otherwise I get awfully sleepy if I'm not up and moving around.

I use generic non-drowsy Claritin. I find that it takes a few days to work, then I'll bet set through my allergy season. Luckily the season is pretty short for me- usually just the month of August or so. You can also look into getting a shot, but I've never done it.

Over the counter Zyrtec works pretty well for me.  Claritin doesn't seem to work at all for me.

Yeah I have to stay away from shots becuase it will have to be reported on my FAA Medical card and the FAA gets weird about shit like that.

So do most of you take a dose everyday or justy when it bothers you?

Zyrtec D.  Works like a charm, without making me drowsy.

Find the furriest cat and rub him against my eyes so they get watery and itchy. Oh wait, this is a thread to treat allergies? Uhh, that knockoff brand Equate at Walmart.

Knock off Claritin and Zyrtec.  Really, whatever free samples my mother in law has when I visit (she's a nurse) to deal with staying at a house with 3 cats, a dog and a hamster.

Advil Cold & Sinus always does it for me.  I try not to take 1 every day, I don't want to build up some kind of immunity to it, so some days I just try to tough it out.  These santa ana winds kill me, I'll wake up feeling like total garbage, but Advil always seems to do the trick.

2 shots of whisky

Actually, this advice isn't as bad as it sounds. My allergies cause me to get skin rashes occasionally. Sometimes it's everywhere and can be hard to endure. I've noticed that getting piss-assed drunk makes me forget about the burning itchiness quickly, though. Only a temporary solution, unfortunately.

I am all about Claritin.  Go to walmart/target and get a giant package of the imitation stuff for next to nothing.

Even the imitation Zyrtec is pretty costly, so I just stick with the cheap shit.

I actually used to be allergic to cats, really bad!  Since I clean carpets n' stuff for a living, I'm always going into homes with pets, & cats would kill it for me.  I'd be dripping from my eyes & nose, sneezing like a madman, & would have to go outside to recover while my dad would work by his lonesome.  However, when my brother divorced his first wife, he moved in with us, & had 2 cats.  Those cats stayed in his room most of the time.  I'm pretty sure I was slightly allergic at times when he moved him, but either way, I deffinitely developed an immunity to them.  Now my wife & I have cats, I have zero problems around them.  Wish I could say the same for pollen! ](*,)
