Title: Ultimate Portable Game Player
Post by: Nando on November 05, 2012, 07:09:51 AM

The Neo Geo X Gold isn’t the only “new” portable system arriving this holiday. A company named At Games are bringing out an “Ultimate Portable Game Player” device that is essentially a portable Sega Genesis with 80 games loaded onto it.

One of the gems is Mega Man: The Wily Wars, the only Mega Man game released for the Genesis. This rare title was only released on the Sega Channel, an online service from Sega that offered downloadable games, in North America. Mega Man: The Wily Wars has remakes of the first three Mega Man games with new graphics and the Wily Tower, a brand new area with three Genesis bosses. Mega Man: The Wily Wars wasn’t released on Virtual Console either so this game is pretty rare!

I think that's going to be the third version of this clone console that At Games has released following the Gopher (http://stoneagegamer.com/gopher.aspx) and the Arcade Ultimate Portable (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037AF3HA/).

This new one seems to have a nice set of games overall, when compared to the old offerings.

I picked up the Retro Duo Portable recently and it seems more "ultimate" than this system since it plays NES, SNES, and Genesis games (although it doesn't have the Wily Wars built in).

I wish someone would make one of these portable emulation dealios with a 4:3 screen.  Nothing that I've seen anyone release is any better than a PSP running emulators.  In fact, they're probably worse, because the PSP has better build quality.  I know, the average lay person isn't going to load custom firmware onto a PSP, but I'm worried about me, not the average lay person.

I'd be willing to throw a custom firmware on my PSP since I no longer play it as a PSP. I just don't know what the hell I'm doing, and a non-used working system is better than a bricked one.

I'd love to put a shit load of retro on it to play. System may actually get some use then.

This is what I use.  Way better than HUGO I might add...

I'd buy one of those Genesis handhelds full price if Atgames ever fixed the f*cking sound.

Track down a gp2x Wiz handheld. http://gp2xwiz.info/  It's perfect for on the go.  It's about the size of a GBA Micro.

Agreed.  I need to bust out my Nomad actually.  I never managed to complete Shinobi III in time.

I wanted to get a Nomad (again) with a screen mod, but I have yet to find someone that still does them.  There was a guy named Hailrazer who was doing them but stopped.  Sigh...  Same goes for the Game Gear I have.

I tried it, but went back to Hugo as the PCE on PSP emulator crashes routinely when it loads up the rom list.   I wonder if I'm not doing something correctly.......

Hugo works pretty well tho.  At least better than SNES9x does with the horrible slow down and crap.

There are a few sellers on Ebay that also do the screen and/or audio/video caps fix. Not bad prices either.
