Title: SCART to Component converter

Anyone ever use such a setup? I figure that'll be easiest way RGB out onto a non-RGB TV for a number of 16-bit/32-bit era consoles.
Basically, I see the chain as: Console -> Scart Cable -> Pass through to get out RCA audio -> Scart to Component video converter -> component cable -> TV
Now, I intend to hook up systems such as the Saturn, Playstation, Dreamcast, i.e. through this setup to a standard-def CRT. On an SDTV, those RGB->Component convertors work quite well. On an HDTV, a proper scaler will blow it away. But on SDTV, it will look better then S-Video for sure.
Only issue is that a lot of CRTs can't recognize 240p via component. They see it as 480i, and will deinterlace the progressive signal giving you a weird "stutter effect" when things stop moving. All HDCRTs I've ever seen have this issue. SDCRTs with component inputs will vary though. So research what kinda of set you will end up with before going this route.

Never tried you referenced. I have had good experience with Atlona RGB to YUV converters on eBay. Do some searches here been discussed a bit. I had some older posts in regards to it. I modded my converter to output audio so no pass through cable needed.
Also the CRTs that I have tried work great. I even have a new LCD set by Samsung that looks great with the converter.

I use one of those scart to component converters, feeding the signal into my scaler - results are quite nice. I had to open that sucker up first though and use a screwdriver to adjust the potentiometers controlling the colors. But now it looks swell.

That RGB to component converter looks like the one I bought off ebay. It doesn't work with modded consoles and has issues with Sega and Neo Geo systems (like part of the image flipping around).

I've got the original CSY-2100 encoder, it works great on all of my CRT TV's and my plasma. It works perfectly for my Master System, Mega Drive, 32X, Saturn, SNES, AES etc but it looks horrible with my RGB modded Duo-R. That's probably more to do with the crap job that was done with the RGB amp though and not a fault of the encoder.

must be the amp because mine looks great on my Duo-R.

Yeah, I didn't understand why none of those converters didn't have an audio pass through. It would seem obvious to put one in.
Any instructions for a mod job like that floating around anywhere?

Frank: Is your RGB modded unit a Doujindance by chance? Mine looks pretty good, but washed out. I RGB modded a Turbo CD dock myself and it looks much better. It has to be the amp in my case, but I haven't bothered to redo the Duo yet.

I got a doujindance and it works great with the box, an addition with a RGB amp that I personally built. For the bad unit try to get a snapshot of the amp board.
And yah I assume that was one of your posts? You and I have been discussing this for a while, we need to sticky one of these topics because it keeps coming up in seperate posts.
