Any of you have kids that just won't put down the Turbo controllers down?
My 5 year old started to play Air Zonk for the past 3 days... He won't even let me play haha, sure beats buying 60$ games and those skylander toys... I had to dust off my regular turbo so I can set it up in his room and I can play my Duo!! Glad this kid pick up some retro games.
-
i have two daughers 7 and 10. the 7 year old does not like the turbo at all. my 10 year old loves bonk, but thats about it
-
Yeah he seems to only play the bonks series and some shooters, the one that I get weird about is that he seems to like timeball a lot??! Yeah I'm confused on that one but he likes it..
-
My 7 year old loves his TE and games. No complaints!
-
My 13 year old is so wrapped up in 'skyrim' and 'call of dooty' and his XBL and online friends and 3D HD grafx that he hardly plays Turbob with me anymore. Sometimes I can still get him to play 5 player bomberman with us which is fun as heck! The younger kids all really dig turbo as long as it's multiplayer games, so we try to do mostly Bomberman, Dungeon Explorer, Panic Bomber, and some 2-player Bonk 3. With a possible deal with Nec.game.head to snag his battle royale coming up, we should have another excellent multiplayer game to play!!
It's funny, my younger kids aren't worried about HD grafx, but my oldest is all about that stuff.
-
My kids love Bomberman 93 and 94. They also love playing Street Fighter 2 and Battle Royale and for some reason one of them really likes Sonic Spike.
-
No kids of my own, but my nephews love playing Bomberman '94 and Parasol Stars when they come over.

Everyone should LOVE SONIC SPIKE!!!! Great 4 player fun for the whole family!!!!
-
My daughter has her own game that I made for her on teh Turbo so she plays that whenever she's not smacking people around in Soul Calibur IV.
-
my kids dont like turbo, but since mindcraft is 8 bit, they are now having seconds thoughts. screw em they need to get their own!
-
My daughter who is 9 loves Dungeon explorer, we just finished it also. And we play alot of Moto roader. She wants me to get Dungeon Explorer 2. So I will be searching for that game.
-
17 and 14 year old boys...both are slaves to new games (Skyrim and WOW to be precise). However, they have both taken shots at Y's and will sit and watch me try to figure out the Japanese script on my copies of Might and Magic 1 and 3. I think that once I get MM3 again, they will give it a stab. The 17 year old is intrigued by the menu system and how "complex" it is. When I heard him say that, I took him upstairs, booted up the old 386 and played the first dungeon in Ultima 1...yes, on a 5.25 floppy. He was bonkers over the complicated nature of the old games but sat there while I fought through the dungeon and paid close attention.
I don't know what, as a 12-17 year old, I would have done with Skyrim or Prototype or Halo 4...hell, any of the newer adventure/RPG/FPS games that are out now. To me, THEY'RE complex and unwieldy.

I have 3 daughters, 15, 10 & 3. Once in a while we play bomberman 94 together other then that only my 3 years old pick up a turbo controller with me. She can tap on button I & II, she'll still figuring out the d-pads. However, she can master those damn touchscreen devices.

My kid is the same. He's 3 and not a master at the d-pad. He likes Bonk, but he hasn't mastered using the d-pad and the buttons at the same time. So he'll either move left and right, or stand still and just jump. It's still a lot of fun to watch.
-
My oldest son (5) loves Bonk, Bomberman, and has played a bit of Parasol Stars. I'm hoping to get him into Dungeon Explorer soon.
But right now, his main obsession is Skylanders and whatever Mario game he can get his hands on.
-
I haven't been blessed with any little ones of my own yet, but I have 3 nephews that are ages 7, 8 and 10 and recently I brought over my Tg16 to my sisters house and let them have at it .. They were all super stoaked on Bonk's Adventure, Air Zonk and New Adventure Island .. Their favorite game so far seemed to be New Adventure Island because of the sk8board and all the awesome music .. It was pretty sweet watching them play a console that is at least 2 and a half times their age !!! Gonna buy them a Pc Engine soon, and wire up to my sister's Oddesy mini van for them to enjoy some great retroness while on the road ...
-
Man, you're an awesome uncle dude!

My 22month old son can't put the Turbo controller down even though he's actually never played any video games. He really loves just holding the controller and running around with it. He likes to push the buttons and flip the turbo switches. What's funny is he prefers the Turbo controller over any other controller and over a lot of his fancy new toys. Already taking after me since he watches and studies me playing Turbo.

Man that is too awesome !!! A chip of the ol Turbo block !! Kids playing video games makes me smile big time, as much as it makes me smile while I'm playing them !!!

Cute kid! I always wanted a boy, do you want to trade:)

Thanks everyone! haha...well, I always wanted a boy. I hope to maybe one day pass down the Turbo collection as family heirlooms starting with my son. :)
I'm really glad to see my son already taking interested in Video games (watching & playing with the Turbo Pad) already, but the wife doesn't like it so much.
-
My 2 year old son likes to watch me play games a lot. He understands the controller is moving the character or ship on the screen and likes sonic games a lot because he can see how the buttons make him jump or move. I like to give him a controller or joystick to play with when he watches me. He also likes to bang on the control panel on my candy cabs which are perfect kid height. He yells at the screen too, wonder where he got that from :P

My son, who's 4, has been playing Devil's Crush a lot lately (woot!). Yesterday, after an apparently frustrating game, he says to me, "Daddy, I know TVs are not kickable, but right now I want to kick it."
That's my boy.
:D
-
My 4 year old son absolutely loves Bonk, Keith Courage, and Detana!! Twinbee.
I've also been considering setting up a TG-16 in his room so I can have the Japanese Duo all to myself, though he'll be upset when he finds out Twinbee won't work on the TG-16.
-
My daughter and I played through Crude Buster and Bad Dudes today!
-
lmao I love it. No kids of my own. Similer to Josh, my G/F son only plays COD on his Xbox. She wont let me reset the router when he plays :(
-

Tats, I love the pillowcase that the DUO is resting on. CLEARLY YOU ARE HIDING an ATARI 5200 under there and are ashamed to publicly admit it.
I have always supported the 5200. You should feel confident knowing that I'll support you even if everyone else mocks you.
-
lol, quite wrong guessed dear sir :P
the following things are hidding under that wonderful "pillowcase":
a Wondermega,
a SMS,
a PS0ne,
a Saturn,
a DC,
a Mega drive,
a gamecube w/ gba play0r,

Tats, I don't know why he's giving you the thumbs-up there. His player's almost dead and has only one life left. The boy needs to upgrade his Obey skillz! [-(

That's great! My kids hate all my old systems. Whenever I'm playing they moan... Ugh... Dad.... why do you always play those old timey games... lol
One day I was playing Contra and my son said.... Wow so this was like your call of duty back in the day. That's horrible!.... I was like horrible!? This is a classic!!!!

I came in here to say that I thought Bomberman/93/94 and Parasol Stars were the first games to come to mind as far as standing the test of time. Bonk, Magical Chase and others with really colorful, cartoony graphics I would think would still appeal to kids yet untainted by the newer consoles.
Populous I am really surprised by though! At 6! Sounds like you have a smart kid!
-
I hope so
Populous was the third game I tried on mega drive bitd and the first i bought myself for game boy.
Must be in the genes
-
My daughter likes old-skool games:
Mario Bros. Series
Bonk 1-3
Bomberman series
Etc.

wow roy.. grandson? hawoldru?

Just plugged in the TD the other day & fired up some Alien Crush with the 1-year-old last night. Took pics. Planned on staring an "Awwww, my widdle boy id doh cyoot!" thread but saw this one on the front page. Convenient!

My son who is now 7 is currently playing through Neutopia II. He loves it. We usually have a couple of games on the go at any given time. For the past several months we have been working on Neutopia II and Secret of Mana. It takes us quite a while to get through games as we only play on Saturday nights, which have appropriately been named "Party night" :). We get snacks and game out for the evening. When you restrict your playing time to one night a week, it's special. He looks forward to it, and I am hoping these nights become fond memories for him.
Secret of Mana has been especially fun because it's a co-op RPG. My daughter often tags along as the third member of our party, but she's always a huge liability, so we disconnect her controller, while allowing her to still believe that she is playing. I suspect she will become wise to our little trick very soon and we'll have no choice but to put up with her mindlessly wondering off on us, haha.
-
This past Friday, while I was at work, my wife texted me a picture of my lil beating Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. Dangit, I was hoping to watch the ending with him. :P
This weekend we've been playing a lot of co-op games: Bomberman, Twinbee, Super Mario Kart, Uniracers... This afternoon, I think we're going to give Double Dungeons a shot. :D
-
My daughter is 6 and absolutely loves Bonk. She's still working on Bonk's Adventure due to the limited playtime she has. She also enjoys Magical Chase. I figured that she would because it's easier than Cotton. She doesn't really care for the newer gen stuff.
-
My 8 and 10 year old cousins could absolutely give two shits about anything on the turbografx right now haha. I've been trying to school them on all the classic 8 and 16-bit systems but no luck so far. :( Although, they both love them some Mario 64 and Super Smash Bros 64, so not all hope is lost quite yet.
-
I swapped my kids for Soldier blade and parasol stars complete in box.
-
I ended up with Yandmans kids for soldier blade and parasol stars.......neither want to play any games and they wont clean the house and my god do they eat too much.....I want my games back.
-
my 10yr old likes it a lot and the "pretty colors", she has fun but knows only i can change the games....lol
