Ok, i haven't had any problems with "asemasterautotechnician" as a seller and his prices don't seem terrible.
I also can't get too pissed at people who snipe auctions because ebay sucks and people have sniped many items from me so now i do it and it saves me money....
however, i had been watching this auction out of curiosity because it's rare to see a reasonably priced RX deck being sold in the US and this one was at about 50 bucks until the last minute when a bidding war began. the winner placed his bid sometime in the last 3 seconds. i wouldn't care except he's a goddamn STORE. the system isn't going to anyone who's going to play it. it's just going to be resold at an inflated price. and i doubt this winner is going to be as honest about the scuffing and condition of the system as the original gentleman was who just sold it.
damn...
-
I honestly barely use eBay ever anymore. There are few good deals on there and there are more and more shitty sellers and buyers. I hate wasting my time on those people but the weeding out process is in effective.
Tough break on the RX, but you had to expect that. The rule of thumb is to bid what you'd be willing to pay while sniping. Then as long as you are being reasonable you'll probably win it and be satisfied. Shooting for the lowest $$ is a sure way to end up pissed. Think of it this way. You already invested a decent portion of your own time (watching the auction, watching the closing seconds, bidding, etc) and to come away with nothing over a $5-10 difference would kill ya. That's what irritates me the most.
-
no, i didn't bid on it. I have a US Duo coming in the mail and didn't really need to waste more money.
i was ready to snipe it for $60-70 but it got out of that range pretty quick at the end.
i was mostly pissed about the fact that another seller picked it up rather than a gamer.
(yes, after my system woes that i reported a few weeks ago i purchased another US deck.
unreliable? Perhaps.
but this one is NEW and, more importantly, flat-black.
No curvy, white consoles in my house)
i am on the market for a Super Grafx, however

I feel the same as D-Lite. My usage of eBay has been dwindling, and I haven't bought anything from there in over six months. Tired of the resellers (and asemasterautotechnician is one that annoys me, although not as much as bullseye), tired of all the bootlegs being sold (eBay does almost nothing even when you report it), and tired of eBay continually jacking up fees and finding more ways to squeeze money out of you. I'm ready to try alternatives like trading sites and also buying/selling/trading on boards like these just to get away from eBay. The only worthwhile advantage eBay ever had anyway was the reputation system, and their system is so busted (with everyone afraid to leave true feedback because of retaliation) it's almost useless anyway. So back to trading like in the usenet days, oddly enough I never got burned doing those trades, but that was like ten years ago. :)
Oh, and eBay could fix sniping if they'd end their auctions like Yahoo does. If you bid at the last minute on Yahoo, the auction gets extended. This really cuts down on the people who snipe in the last second (and yes, you can snipe in the very last second on eBay, there's software and websites that will do it for you). Too bad Yahoo auctions aren't popular in the US. :?
-
Some shop just bought a stack of 30 NES manuals off me for $60, I fully expect to see them all up at ridiculous buy it now prices within the week.
-
Come to think of it, I don't use it much at all either anymore. Just keep my eyes peeled on it for a few rare things I am looking for. But as a whole, I've avoided it for a while now.
It is a sleazy dealer's haven
-
There are a couple of videogame auction sites on the net but none of them are particularly good. Anyone here wanna start up a new one? I've got the resources if anyone's got the interest...
-
I sell on ebay often, but Im quick to ban resellers.I monitor my auctions closely for non-paying bidders and resellers and the such.
Last year when I was selling off alot of pc engine and turbo cd stuff,I had to ban Bullseye and Asemaster.Asemaster actually used his other account to win a Gate of Thunder auction of mine, funner still was that it was the copy I got from him.
Anyway I recognized his email and informed him the auctions were not for resellers,as it was posted in the auction details, and on here in a thread.
I ended up banning both his ebay accounts. He took it well,as he missed the details I guess.
He is a nice guy,and Id buy from him again, but never sell to him. I am fine with resellers hitting Japan, getting shipments in like West Exit and all,and selling like that, but I just cant stand resellers hitting US auctions constantly out bidding their own customers, like these people wont catch on sooner or later as to what they are doing, driving the price up in Buy it Now auctions getting double what they paid because they lucked out on a cheap deck or game.
Reminds me of just this last week when I beat Jeff Kurtz over a 1-slot I was figuring he was going to consolize and resell for 300+ bucks.I outbid him just because of the principle of it. I had the money there and just did it to stop him cold.
I know that was bastard like of me,but thats how I feel on it.If I thought he was going to resell it consolized for like 200-250 then I would have prob not done so,but I was pretty sure in 2-3 weeks time I would have seen him relist it for $300+ or sell it to some noob on the Neo forums.
And to be honest, cash wise whenever possible,I will continue to do so on things like 1-slots when I see someone trying to make 300 plus more off of something they are trying to win for 30 bucks. If I dont win,I will at least drive the bidding up to make sure the reseller is gonna pay his fair share if at all possible.
It would be great to see some kind of new auction gaming site.Yahoo US auctions suck.If soemthing was put together, and it got recognized enough,Id sell on it for sure.
-
If I dont win,I will at least drive the bidding up to make sure the reseller is gonna pay his fair share if at all possible.
The problem with that strategy is that if the dealer has to pay more for the system/1-slot/whatever, they will pass that price hike on to the next buyer, guaranteed. So all that does is drive up the end price for the end user.
And I highly doubt you'll find Jeff Kurtz selling consolized boards with any frequency. The last one he sold on the Neo-Geo.com forums was 3 months ago and before that last May. Not saying what his plans for that one were, just pointing out that it's not like Jeff is running the same business that Kenny/Kpj/Neotropolis is in terms of consolization and pricing.

An alternative is VGA (http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/), and they don't have setup or closing fees like ebay does.
I haven't purchased anything from there yet. Most auctions are for Sega Saturn games, and I don't have a SS console. Another reason is most sellers are international and I hate paying the expensive S&H costs.

So do you think that Kurtz had to bid 300 bucks or more before winning this because someone drove the bids up:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8242547270
You are probably right, that could be why he sold it for $600.
Nah,I take that back, considering since you can score a cheap AES from Hit-Japan anytime.
Or here,

(update, look how much he won this one for:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8272428992
wonder how much he will sell it for after modding it. He won for $157,if the past dictates it will be sold by him for $500-600.

Won this one for $50 bucks
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8260400456
Another one for $157.50 that he won. As we are all smart enough to know Dean that he is not getting all these just to collect, and he is infact making huge profit off the fools and noobs at the Neo Forums, you and him both should be ashamed for taking advantage of so many people who don't know better.)
In his own auction he post quotes about Neo systems he has sold after modding them and what not. While I dont think he does them too often, the fact remains he mods and resells for a extremely high cash amount.
I dont think this is due to someone like me driving his cost up.
If it wasnt for ebays item details ending after 60-90 days Im sure we could look further back into his feedback and see more systems sold by him for around the same price or close to it. I do see AES and MVS tossed around in his feedback left by buyers.
Maybe he is just selling off his own personal collection?
Yea right!!!
-
Hey Dean,
when Kurtz says
"I have the strongest reputation for Neo Geo mods so you know you are getting the absolute best quality work."
do you think he means his work is better then yours and KPJ?
How many of you are out there modding NEO systems anyway???
-
do you think he means his work is better then yours and KPJ?
Honestly? Yes. Why? Because it's true.
How many people modding AES systems? Jeff and Kenny. I've done all of two in the past year.
MVS consolization? Really just Kenny on a regular basis.
-
Strive to be better then,boy!
-
Strive to be better then,boy!
What I'm saying is that Jeff does have the strongest reputation, bar none. He has contributed more than anyone else and he does great quality work. I don't get into pissing matches about whose quality is better because that's pointless. Have I said anything about your quality of work?
If you are so bitter about all the pricing of stuff, then maybe you should do it full time at cheaper rates. Seriously. Yeah, you do the occasional "super"gun, but why stop there? Put your money where your mouth is and stop derailing everyone's threads everywhere you go. If you want to flame and start problems, don't do it here. It's pretty clear that no one wants to see that. I know you've been lurking at NG.com so you might as well just use the War Room there for your venting. People there expect a flame war.
-
Lurking in what way exactly?
I posted a MVS 1-slot for sale,on ebay in the for sale section. As in not directly sold On NG.Other then that I have not posted anything, nor do I care to.
My kids and my gfs oldest kid go on there to read stuff however. I dont ban them from sites, even ones with mods like you. We all like the Neo Geo here for the most part in my household.
They use this computer Im on right now,the entertainment room one often. We have 3 right now,and this one is the common use one for net and light pc gaming on the tv,and for the kids. What is it doing,a auto log in or something? Thats sad if it is because I have to log in here every time I want to post.I myself have not been on that site untill I posted the ebay auction for my MV-1f and not after. No need to. I dont have any more MVS to sell right now. I guess Ill need to fix that if its auto logging in. Could you not tell from the lack of post?
I dont have enough time to "lurk" about on the NG forums, this is my fav place to be,I dont have much time for any other site other then Guru3d.
If lurking describes posting a 1-slot for sale on ebay, then so be it,but I think thats kinda harsh word. To me lurking is following someone around looking for your post you make and commenting on them.
Actually what you have been doing here is lurking. After I posted about Kurtz, you came up from behind with a lame defense.
As for flame war,I stated my case and how I myself feel about resellers, and you jumped to defend a reseller, way before considering the facts, and I shot you down with proof and auction links. Deal with it Dean you goof of a lurker.
-

I will build one for someone anytime they ask. And yet again, you open you mouth and insert foot. I have a supergun for sale on ebay right now, been up for a couple days now,and sold 2 others couple weeks ago on there, plus I do them for people locally here where I live.Check my feedback on ebay if you care to.
Id say 4-6 a month is fine for me. Its not like everyone and their mother is out trying to buy them right now.
If flaming means shooting down your bs then so be it,cause you defending Kurtz without solid proof was complete and utter BS.
and stop derailing everyone's threads everywhere you go
Whos thread did I derail here exactly?
Oh,do you mean when I shut your lame ass down for lying to that guy about how your supergun would be great for Time Killers, yet again trying to make another $250-300 sale when you didn't even know anything about the game? I did it in a pretty polite manner, but yea it disgusted me to see you jump on him like that for a sale. I dont know,he seemed pretty glad I informed him when him and I talked about it.
I straight out told him that he shouldnt get a supergun just for Time Killers, and if he wanted one for that game,I could do one for him,if he wants, when ever,or that Massystems would also be a good choice.
If yours supported -5 volts, used more then AES controllers, actually came with arcade sticks, and supported more then 4 button game play for under $300,then you know what??? Id have suggested your SG too!
The select button on a neo stick doesnt count for shit in a game like Time Killers or Blood Storm, and its not my fault you choose to do that, its your problem. Just dont go telling a guy yours would do fine when you either know it wont,or just plain dont know.
Id say the only thing I derailed was your sale you were trying to pull off,and that wasnt even your thread, was it.
Honestly Dean,I dont remember you being GOD of the Threads here.
If you are going to defend a buddy,at least know what he has been up to,dont get mad at me because I shot you down with solid facts. And this is Pcenginefx.com here, not the NG forums, and this thread isnt in the war room. Its here, and its not derailed as of yet,but it will be if you dont take your punchs and move on.
This thread is about resellers is it not? Are you not a reseller buying up hardware and modding then selling it,and software too on your multimods site?
I would have to say I thought your software prices were reasonable. I respect you on that. You seem to stick to the normal going price.

There are a couple of videogame auction sites on the net but none of them are particularly good. Anyone here wanna start up a new one? I've got the resources if anyone's got the interest...
Id like to hear more about this,if possible. Like I said,Id list stuff for sale if something got going, and Im sure i could convince a few others I know to try.
The only thing I would be worried about is quality cotrol,(keeping bullseye and others like him out,and bootlegs, but I doubt that would really be a problem, ebay and yahoo are about the only ones plauged with bootlegs and people like Bullseye.
-
Why did you make three posts in a row? There's an "edit" button you know. It gets fairly annoying when there are several posts in a row by the same user.
Anyway... Lurking simply means looking around on a message board but not posting. There's nothing negative in that. :)
-
True,it is. Its also hard to do one big one in 640-480 on the TV in here. I wont use the other 2 during the day because my gf sleeps all day, works night shift as a LPN,and those 2 are in the bedroom for high end gaming mostly anyway when no one is here at nite except me and a friend if someone comes over to play too. I keep them away from the kids because they have this one to play on.I rarely connect to the net on them other then for gaming but doing low res net surfing does suck ass on a TV.
-
You're surfing on a tv? Why don't you have a monitor? :?:
-
This comp is hooked upto a Apex 24 inch tv monitor. Its a P3 comp with a Geforce 2 GTS.Its for the TV only. I wanted a comp for the TV,and this one is it. It runs Divx and Xvid fine, along with older games.I do have a voodoo 2 installed in this one,but as Im not using VGA,its not being used right now.
When I do ebay auctions I do however use one of the other comps and Opera on average.
We have Comcast here, and their net connection is great speed and upload wise.I usually just swap the cable modem around from room to room when I need to. The 2 gaming comps are lanned also.
-

Well, if you or anyone else here has any ideas for this, feel free to shoot them into the pot. I can certainly provide the physical network servers required for such an operation as well as construction of the site code and database, although it'd be nice to have a decent visual designer on the project as well (despite being a retired professional web designer, my visual skills are pretty lacking). Something like this certainly doesn't come for free though, that's the only real caveat at this point...
-
I use to bid the legit way on ebay for many years.
Afther a while i was sick of the "bid wars" and being "bid sniped" myself.
So now i use a site to... bid snipe for me sorry man, if you can't beatem join them.
Beside ebay isn't worry about being 'fair they just want your money.
-
Michael,
You can preach all the misleading "facts," as you call them, but you're are dead wrong. I don't buy systems to just mod and sell. When I purchase a system, it is at the request of someone else, and for me to do the work. If they back out of the deal, I refund their money and then sell off the system.
That MVS board you outbid me on was for someone else. Did you stop anything? No. He still got his board. All you managed to do was pay more for the board by entering into a bidding war. I'm glad you won it. You still got a good deal, but not as good as you could have.
Now, if I were into what you say I am, buying to just mod and resell, then you you would see me bidding on all those two slots that always seem to go for under $100. There would be more money in that. Or, I would buy up those AES systems from Japan and mod/sell those, as you mentioned.
I'm glad to see Dean defend me since I don't visit these boards. You, on the other hand, seem to have a need to bash on someone with their back turned. I doubt I'll come back here, so my back will be turned -- take your next jab.
Jeff

I already gave links to your $600.00 AES and looked over your feedback.
There is not much else to say.You resale, and at high prices too.
No one can defend you. Not even Dean, which is probably why he ran to tell you about this thread, how else do you suppose the PcengineFX forums would be blessed by a visit from the mighty Neo-Geo forums post deleting mod god snob Kurtz.
You still got a good deal, but not as good as you could have.
Good deal but not as good as what????Losing to you??? Losing to you doesnt sound like a very good deal. What f*cking retarded planet are you from Kurtz????
God what sore loser lines. Well Ill rub it in a bit more since Im sure you will infact come back to see my reply,if nothing else then to just see it,I beat you by a buck,1 dollar,100 pennies. If you were just a little faster at those last few seconds you could have won,but you were too distracted by my ebay message I guess.
BTW Kurtz, when talking about the post I did about you, read it better. In regards to your commentNow, if I were into what you say I am, buying to just mod and resell, then you you would see me bidding on all those two slots that always seem to go for under $100. There would be more money in that. Or, I would buy up those AES systems from Japan and mod/sell those, as you mentioned.
I said you may not do it often, but you do do it none the less.
In his own auction he post quotes about Neo systems he has sold after modding them and what not. While I dont think he does them too often, the fact remains he mods and resells for a extremely high cash amount.

Yea right!!!
You coming here was lame, and it also shows how much I get under Deans skin. He seems to need the help of others when it comes to me,yet I dont rally anyone against him myself. You would not have joined here if not for Dean,or learned of the post I did otherwise, unless your ego is somehow so high that weekly you do google searches of your name to see if anyone is talking about you.
Whats Dean going to do next, hire the Bubblegum Gang from Hostel to try to take me out here????

That wasn't very nice :(
I guess I'll just go back to making encoders. :(
You do just that Kurtz, you do just that.
