I thought I herd that there were a few games released in North America that never saw a release on the PCE. Is this true and if so what are the U.S exclusive games?

Falcon, Gunboat, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin to name a few.. From what I remember all the "US Exclusives" totally sucked!

No way, man! Yo Bro and The Addams Family (to a lesser extent) are pretty bad, but Bonk 3 CD, Beyond Shadowgate, Order of the Griffon, Camp California, John Madden Duo CD Football, and It Came From the Desert are all pretty solid.

I'm not a fan of Order of the Griffon but I'll give you that one. I was only really thinking in terms of hu games when I originally posted.. are there any other hu games we are missing??

There are four other clunkers: Yo Bro, Turrican, Ghost Manor, and Night Creatures. The first two are utter shit, but the latter two aren't complete losses, though they're like Deep Blue in that you'll either really dig 'em or hate 'em.
As for CD titles, there's also the three girly 'games', which are the best (only) collections of oddly-censored-pixlated-boobies-with-random-lizards-and-birds you'll find on the PCE/TG.

It's a shame because the NES Capcom version kicks ass!

I actually kinda like the Adams family [-X

Me too... it's clunky and difficult at times due to sloppy coding and design but it's totally finishable and damn interesting the whole way through.
You could technically consider Mysterious Song to be a North America-only game, as there's no Japanese translation of it.

If you haven't done so already, this "behind the scenes" feature for Addams Family is actually pretty good!

There's also Impossamole.
Andre Panza Kick Boxing is exclusive to Turbochip. Japan got an unlicensed variant on CD called The Kickboxing.
Order of the Griffon is the only must-have exclusive HuCard worth getting a TG-16 or region mod for.
Here is what I believe is a complete list:
4-in-1 SCD (GoT, Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge, Bomberman)
Addams Family
Andre Panza Kick Boxing
Ballistix
Battle Royale
Beyond Shadowgate
Bonk 3 Bonk's Big Adventure CD
Camp California
Champions Forever Boxing
Darkwing Duck
Falcon
Ghost Manor
Gunboat
Hawiian Island Girls*
Impossamole
It Came From The Desert
John Madden Duo CD Football
Local Girls Of Hawaii (The)*
Night Creatures
Order Of The Griffon
Talespin
Turrican
Yo' Bro
*not games

Well that list is uhhh a bit underwhelming....
Why can't we have nice things? :(
-
It's a pretty horrible list. Not everything in it is garbage, but you can certainly live a happy TG-16 existence without ever having played a single one of them. Probably a happier one.
Unofficial games don't have regions, btw, so I don't get putting MS or Girls of Hawaii on that list. They are as equally American as they are Dutch. Anyone who wants a copy of MS will be mailed one directly from the publisher...that would be the exact opposite of how the entire concept of "region" works.

You mean why can't others not have nice things? Exclusives only means that Japan didn't get them. There are games developed outside of Japan for North America that were also released in Japan. If it makes you feel any better, the only true U.S. exclusives are Working Designs games, Sidearms and maybe Sinistron/Tricky Kick, since Canada didn't get them.

I hear a lot about this "bikini/Hawaii girls games" Is this a long running joke or does such a thing exist. I hear it mentioned so much that I am starting to wonder lol

They do actually exist but they are not actually games... just discs with low-res pics that sold for ridiculous prices back in the day.

Like Necro said, there's some genuinely good stuff in that list.
I believe Shape Shifter is US only as well and that's a fine game (if difficult).
EDIT: I don't think the Disney games deserve the hate they get. The Capcom Disney NES games are f*cking amazing, but there's plenty of good to be had with the turbo games.

took this from a recent ebay auction.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Local-Girls-of-Hawaii-Turbo-Duo-CD-Rom-grafx-16-super-engine-pc-lt-rx-core-/330831472101?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d0717a5e5&nma=true&si=W3X1LIU%2FwXtrL7UTlJbVMuP3IuQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I dont mind Tale Spin but I think Darkwing Duck is almost unplayable!

I only spent a short time with it, but I recall XTREME FRSTRATION immediately with Darkwing Duck. As in, the very first board or two...
It's been at least 5-6 years and I haven't rushed back to that "game"...
-
The Disney games on the TG16 are awful. It is fair to compare them to the NES games, because the TG16 should've gotten something of that quality and not the shit they received. Tailspin is buggy as shit.
Yo Bro on the other hand is awesome.
-

Nope, Shape Shifter came out in Japan.
-
The only Disney TG-16 game I've played is Darkwing Duck. I bought it new BitD and sold it here a few years ago. I played it a lot more than it deserved. The graphics are nice, but the collision is hideous and the levels are long and boring. Keith Courage kicks its ass all over the place.
-

Fair enough. I suppose taking 3 seconds to go to the PC Engine Bible site would have told me that. For some reason I was under the impression it was US developed and no US developed titles were released in Japan. I'm probably wrong on both of those though. :)
As for the Disney games, don't get me wrong, they aren't great games. I just wouldn't say they are some of (or the very) worst games on the system. I find them somewhat charming and I have to admit I was a big fan of both shows growing up. I'd rather play either than Falcon, Ballistix, any of the TV Sports games, Gunboat, Andre Panza Kickboxing, Battle Royale, Timeball, Power Golf and probably half a dozen other games I can't think of right now.
-
I'm sure there is at least one game developed in the US that never even got a US release and ended up JP only. I can't remember what it was though. Klax? Night Rider? Something...
-
Well klax got a US release...unfortunately.. So it may have been Knight Rider.

I hear you, and don't disagree, EXCEPT for Timeball! Timeball is a great game, Sadler (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

-
 Alright, alright. How about we substitute Jack Nicholas Turbo Golf for Timeball? :D
-
I think Tailspin for the Turbo is "ok" but Addams Family kicks it's ass three ways to Sunday.
-
Wow those lists are pretty rough. U.S. really got the shaft on those.
