I am so sorry to read this. Blake and I talked quite a bit. Between his divorce, trouble he was having with work and trying to juggle seeing his 2 year old, things were rough for him, but he made it work and had gotten strong doing so. I know he was a great Father and posted many fun pictures of his little girl gaming on the chat. He was very proud of her and was at a place in his life where he seemed to be happy again. I can't believe he's gone. Know him as Bretai or Firebomber7, the dude was so cool. I know I'll miss him. We had gotten close enough to exchange Christmas Gifts even this year between our families. Damn. At least his little one is okay for the most part physically which is what he would have wanted in the end.

Yes, I think I was talking with you guys.  He was a very cool guy, and f*ck!@!  Damn, I wish I could have gotten to hang out with him.  He was talking about making the trip to one of our Turbo Fests coming up too..

A horrible loss for the community and a great guy.  I'm so sorry to hear about this.

Terrible news, seriously. At least his daughter survived the crash, but just shity he didn't make it. If anyone here has any sort of way of contacting some of his family, would be great if they could just let them know they have our condolences. The guy was a highly valued member to many across multiple forums. This is a real loss.

Yep thats what I was thinking. Really glad his daughter survived. In a shity situation like this, the only thing I could think of worse is both of them being killed, or him surviving and losing his daughter, which as a parent, I know it would have destroyed him. I was extremely lucky to survive a head on collision earlier this year. Air bags were defective and did not activate and I was thrown forward into the steering column pretty hard. Had my kids been in the car with me, whoever would have been in the front passenger seat would have been killed or seriously injured for sure. The steering wheel is basically the only thing that kept me from slamming my head through the windshield, as the seat belts gave too much slack and did not keep people in place in the shoulder area of the seat really in that car.

Oh no...

I am just so deeply shocked about reading this terrible news can't even put the right words together.
He was such a cool and fun-loving person.
Really terrible loss to the community and the world.

When he was still living in Japan, we once had a meet-up in Akihabara and we had a really good and funny time togther going through all the retro shops, buying some stuff here and there and making non-stop jokes about this and that.
We also made funny plans about opening a Swiss-Canada Chalet together in Akihabara with rustily interior, traditional food and games and stuff.

Also I was shocked to hear about his own family problems he had when he moved back to Canada, which involved a divorce and fighting for his daughters parental rights etc.
He was very unhappy at times, but he was was always strong and took it like a real man.

Also my deepest condolences going out to all his family members and that his daughter will be fine in the future, also without her loving daddy next to her :(

You sure will be remembered forever in our hearts.

Fare well my friend and R.I.P. :(

Yeah, same here, then I went to the chatroom (was MIA there for a while) where I had met him to verify the "WTF?" I was feeling... And it made the news... (http://www.tbnewswatch.com/news/254758/One-dead,-3-injured)

He was a cool guy, how tragic! I didn't get to know him too well, but we had some fun chat sessions not that long ago with him posting random 80's videos, many with this particular Italian big-boobed singer that he liked and what not. ;)

Well, Rest In Peace brother...

Sad news.

Rest in Peace, man.

From what I knew of him, he was a great guy who was lucky at raffles.  (He won 2 of my 3 raffles.). He was actually in the process of sending me for free an extra bootleg pressed Sapphire for my new Arcade Card sometime in the next week or two...  Man, this is hitting me hard for some reason.  I'll be praying for his family.

Does anyone know if the 69 year old man driving the pick-up truck was charged?  Was the 69 year old driving or the 17 year old.  There's a lot of drinking and driving that happens near Christmas in Ontario.  I'm curious to know if the older man was driving and if he was impaired.

Hi i just signed up to this site to talk to you all about my friend Breetai aka firbomber7 aka Blake. We just layed him to rest today and everyone has been very thankful for the outpouring of support from all the forums he has visited. I wanted you to know that pcenginefx was his favorite place to come chat and he often spoke of the friendships he created here. Its wonderful to know that he touched so many lives.
Ive gotten used to him being my wakeup call as he would burst through my door almost daily so excited about a package of games he had received or some games he had found at the thrift store. I can still hear him "Dude you awake" even though he new I was asleep since I work night shifts. Video Games just got him so excited he couldn't wait to show me lol. Or the many times that he would decide my games weren't organized correctly and he would spend hours rearranging my entire collection. He was a walking encyclopedia of retro game knowledge and taught me so much about the hobby.  PC engine was by far his favorite system to collect for and he would often tell others that their collections were worthless if they didn't have one. He was relentless in nagging me until i got one. Which im very glad he did.
So thank you for the joy that you all added to his life as I know we will all miss him.

I did not have any contact with firebomber7, but seeing the picture of him and his daughter breaks my heart.  I did remember reading his posts and seeing that he was passionate about this community.  My prayers are with his family, I know from experience how this type of loss affects those left behind.  The upcoming days will be incredibly hard, but as they say, with time things will get better.  As I said, i didn't know firebomber7 personally, but it sounds like he left a legacy of love for those he did know.

"Yay, awesome! Except when I posted in that thread, I just said "!!!" in response to SamuraiGhost not having a copy. I didn't actually intend to enter.  Whistle

I got my mystery game in the mail from Firebomber the other day. It was so weird pulling out the package, knowing he had shipped it out just days before dying.

It ended up being Crossed Sword 2 for the Neo CD. I've never played 2, but it looks awesome, and is one of the few Neo games that is not hindered by the CD format. Excellent choice, my friend, I will always cherish it.

I got my mystery game in the mail from Firebomber the other day. It was so weird pulling out the package, knowing he had shipped it out just days before dying.

Damn.

I used to chat with him a little in pm's here on the forum. Sad to hear about his passing, he was a nice guy, we used to talk about my cat when he was ill recently.. My condolences to his friends and family.

It's a mystery how Blake came across a stack of those CARE4DATA Sapphire bootleg games, but this is how I came to know him. I met him on the Racketboy forum in 2011. He sent me several of those Sapphire boots, and I distributed them to my friends local to the Phoenix, AZ area. We got to know each other through PM. Aside from our obvious shared interest in retro Japanese video games, he and I had very much in common. We were both Christian, in our 30's, had lived in Japan, both married to Japanese girls, and both of us had very young and adorable daughters (his is 2 and mine is 4).

Blake and I were once talking about earthquakes in Japan via e-mail, and he said, "If the worst happens and I die, well... I believe in Jesus. I'm not worried about dying at all." So, I don't grieve for Blake. I feel badly for his daughter. I hope that as his daughter grows older, she will not forget her father, nor how much he loved her. I will miss him.

Greg, I can solve your mystery..  :)  He probably got them from fellow member here, BlueBMW.  Blue bought a ton of them, and handed them out here in the forums. Many of us took a good amount to help hand em out.

Blake and I were once talking about earthquakes in Japan via e-mail, and he said, "If the worst happens and I die, well... I believe in Jesus. I'm not worried about dying at all." So, I don't grieve for Blake. I grieve for his precious daughter. He told me of his custody battle for her, and his wife's violent, explosive behavior. I shouldn't go into much detail on here, but from what he told me, I am certain she is an unfit mother who will now have full custody of that beautiful girl. To me, this makes me cry more than the death of my friend. I can't imagine my own wife mentally snapping like that. If she did, I doubt I could handle it with the strength that he did. Blake carried a great pain in his heart this whole time, and by the grace of God he was able to keep going, despite so much heartache. I hope that as his daughter grows older, she will not forget her father, nor how much he loved her. I will miss him.
I almost wish you hadn't shared this story.  I will pray for his daughter.  Hopefully an unfit mother will not regain full custody.

I pray that she will be raised with love and happiness just as her father showed on the forums despite these circumstances.  I'm sorry to have heard this.   :(

Terrible news. I hope he rests in peace and his family blessed.
