yeah.

The whole 'investment' bullshit is a joke and that dude looks like a total tool bag, but at least the game sounds interesting. I can't see how the role playing part will work into a brawler and not feel tacked on though.

Yeah how will you grind EXP in a brawler? Stand still and wait for a respawn instead of going when the arrow says GO GO GO >>>> ?

Perhaps more exp (or money) by using special moves/combos/etc. instead of just button mashing punch? Or maybe it'll be like Ane San and the only RPG element is buying posters and shit for your apartment.

it's no cyberpunk game unless someone in it has a purple mohawk

well, if thats the case, there will be more posters than any other game. and they will be bigger. Of course. Because investors.

I think I played this when it was called Beats of Rage on Dreamcast. :P
-
If you invest in this, they might port it to dreamcast and make it better than that game.
-
Granted I didn't waste time reading the entire thing, but I could have swore River City Ransom covered all this all ready basically....
-
All I have to say is if they are making a brawler, they'd better up there game and make sure that the controls are spot on. That doesn't matter in an RPG, but it makes or breaks a brawler.

No man, see, this is the game we've been waiting for. Meaning, RCR didn't do a good job.
At least, that's what their horseshit implies. When really, RCR was one of the best games on NES.
Maybe this game will be called Brook Town Bribe, or something.

Mighty Final Fight for the NES uses a exp system and I believe Double Dargon does as well so who knows if they can get it to work.
It does sound interesting but it almost seems like you can buy stock in the game itself which is weird.
I don't like preordering anything unless it is 30 days away from being releases so I can make a paypal claim if it doesn't get released.
Doing things like this are way to easy to scam people and I trust issues so no "investing" for me lol.

Don't worry, if Aetherbyte ever asks for preorder money, it's because we're too poor to front CD costs but have the complete game sitting here ready to get pressed or whatever, lol.
Investing in homebrew is such a mental concept. It screams "We don't know what to do. We just want money. Give us money and make us do something please"

40 MB is huge for a Genesis cart, If Sonic 3 and Knuckles were together, the cart would have been 38 MB. Home-brew games also cost quite a bit. They do need to print boxes, manuals, and be able to afford the cost to make this game. I mean, Bound High on Virtual Boy(I really want to get it) is $75 PLUS shipping! Hopefully the developers will be able to make a profit.
-
If sales of Pier Solar are any indicator, they'll have no problem selling enough to turn a profit; they'll ship hundreds and hundreds of copies, not a few dozen (like Bound High).

Bound High is kind of different though, because Virtual Boy has a VERY small following. Uncle Tusk is only planning to make 2 batches of 50 copies for Bound high anyway.
Also, incase anybody is interested, the rom for Faceball has finally been obtained by Planet Virtual Boy! Hopefully, we'll be able to get Dragon Hopper and Zero Racers someday...

Oh yeah if you are shipping the completed game within 30 days of taking my money I have no problem supporting homebrew for sure.
When I first joined NA in January there was a company that was making a Nightmare Busters CIB release. They were taking full payment in Jan-/Feb and stated there was no hard release date but the earliest it would be would be 1st Quarter 2013. I personally do not feel comfortable paying for a $80 game a minimum of a year in advance. A lot of stuff could go wrong in such a large time frame and I could be out of my money.
-
Who cares that the game is OMG 40!!!!! Size does not equal quality. Seems they are taking the McDonalds approach to game making.... In fact the whole "Magical Game Factory" sounds just like a fast food chain to me as well...
And do they even have time to make another game? I'm still waiting to play Pier Solar on the Hubble Telescope...

Wasn't Nightmare Busters just an unreleased game by the creator of Rayman that was going to be in cart form?

Yes it is. I own a copy that I bought for $15 from a locale store. The people making the new version were making a box and a manual and were also supposedly tweaking the gameplay to make it different.

The brawler looks like crap. Pier Solar was a good idea because it was a unique undertaking. This is just stupid.

I think they are talking about making a Guardian Heroes clone, which I'm up for...in theory. While it sounds easy, GH (and the proto-GH YuYu game for MD) are the only ones that have done it right. The very GH-esque Odin Sphere is one of the most boring games I've ever played in my life.
