Title: Tell me everything you know about Faceball 2000
Post by: lukester on January 04, 2013, 02:08:05 AM
Hey everyone,
Well, Faceball 2000 for Virtual Boy is coming out in Febraury, but I would like to know more about the game.
I've never played any other version, so tell me about the SNES, GB, GG and PCE versions, and what you like. Thanks. :)

uhm.. I have the Gameboy version. I don't like it that much. It's more impressive for what it acheived technically than that it was actually fun. Also, the GB version had 16 player linkup, but not (I assume) without custom hardware.

PCE Faceball is the only one that matters to me, so my comments may or may not apply to all versions: up to four players in a couple different modes ("kill 'em all" and "motteke tamago"), it's kinda slow, the tunes are catchy, and the graphics are very basic (but it's real 3D!).

PCE Faceball is just a demo, right? There's barely any info on the game online.

Technically the gameboy one is VERY impressive with the sheer amount of people you can get playing in the same Maze! I've had a TON of fun playing this game on any platform really.
Of the two big console versions (SNES vs. PCE) I actually prefer the Turbob version with its killer soundtrack and the 4 players simultaneous mode!! It was like Goldeneye before Goldeneye. :P The SNES version is no slouch by any means, but the PCE version allows for more players and has equally impressive grafx. It's kind of like comparing Buster Bros (Turbo) to Super Buster Bros. (SNES) More players... more fun!

Yes and no. There's the quite common complete retail game, but there's also a relatively rare 'sample disc' version (click for Tokei's video description).

I just played the GB and SNES versions briefly online. The SNES one is the better version, but has worse music. I like Faceball. Not great, but very solid. I guess I'll get the PCE and Virtual Boy versions. :)
