If this is considered spamming, go ahead and delete the thread. I'm gonna mention it this one time and that's it.
But anyone who enjoys talking about Famicom, Super Famicom, G&W etc as much as the PC Engine/Turbo stuff, there's a new forum called "Famicom World" that just opened up yesterday.

Well I love talking about that kind of stuff, but I prefer to talk about it with us obscured gamers here :D .
-
Yeah a forum full of Nintendo fans doesn't sound very appealing, haha. That awesome video someone posted of those two dipshits doing "Game Life" or something was what I had pictured everytime I hear someone say how much the DS kicks the PSPs ass.
-
GUTS, that was Xiphas that posted that on Famiconsumer :D . That show was great.
-
Yeah that was rad, even UK:R did an update about it, haha.

WOW! Superfamifreak! The guy from the former The Gaming Forum* -- I love him!

Actually most of us there hjave many different systems. I myself have:
Super Famicom
Custom painted region free SNES
Neo Geo
PS2
GBA
Modded Mega Drive
Master System
and many other members, like myself also love the PC Engine.
Also, the site is aimed at the import/retro gamer, not the Madden obsessed current gamers.

Superfamifreak is omnipresent 8)
Oh don't forget FPS and Grand Theft Auto gamers as well.
I swear it's sad to live with the fact that you can't throw a fruitful conversation about retro/import gaming in public anymore.
-
Where are you from Ninja Spirit? Old school gaming is huge around Portland in Oregon, it seems like everytime I'm in a gamestop or EB there are people asking where to find old NES and SNES games. All the pawn shops and small game stores have jacked the prices up on all the hot games so you can't find good deals anywhere anymore, hell even the goodwills around here have caught on and raised the prices on some stuff.

Where I'm from is under my avatar
Retro gaming runs dry these days around here.
>All the Gamestops and EB's, what's considered old school is PS1.
>I have NEVER seen a Game Crazy anywhere in Virginia.
>The flea markets (or swap meets as you West Coasters call them) are usually Mexicans selling sealed GBA, PS2, XBox, and Gamecube games that people don't care about. I used to hit there every weekend tracking down master system stuff.
But after all these points are said and done and that I'm collecting Japanese now, I just don't give a damn anymore. Opening that long awaited for package with that beautiful game case feels like Christmas (in fact better than Christmas) compared to coming home with dust ridden NES games.
Speaking from what I've seen, it's to the point where in my hometown, if the I hear the words "Turbo Duo" or "Sega Saturn" pass someone's lip in a conversation, we automatically become friends right on the spot. Where I live I feel people like that are far and few between.
-
My Gamestops carry quite a few NES and some SNES games, and only a very small handfull of Genesis games (EA sports games at that, yack), but no one ever buys them and no one around here in the south Chicago subburbs talks about old gaming really. It's all about dat PS2 and X-Box around here, yo.
-
Hahaha I know exactly whatcha mean. Those customers, I've seen em all.
>Guys with their pants hanging halfway off their ass going "Ay yo you got that football yo?" without even specifying what football game it is.
>Anal soccer moms over game ratings.
What's really disturbing is the good selection of retro games that kept you coming back again and again get shrunk down to just 20 cent sports games.
-
I consider myself lucky. I can usually find a place that has some old games. Usually not in the best condition, but sometimes I get lucky and find a game I've wanted in mint condition. I'd say most of the fun for me is looking for the games themselves. That doesn't happen as much as before unfortunately.
Also, going to Akihabara once in a while helps too. You can find pretty much any retro game there. :)

I'm seriously considering moving to Portland! I have friends out there, and I'm visiting this summer in the hopes of finding a job so I can move in the fall. And I'll tell ya, 50% of the reason I wanna move to PDX can be summed up in two words: Ground Kontrol. :D

Yeah man Portland is a pretty nice town as far as big cities go, you'll dig it. I actually live in Salem, about 45 minutes away, but I'm up there all the time.
