Title: What PC Engine game AREN'T you playing?
Post by: soop on January 21, 2013, 02:58:49 AM
Slightly stolen from the turbo thread. Games that you bought on a whim but can't get into. First up for me is Nectarsis. It looks like a great game, but I'm worried that one, I won't understand it, and two, that I won't have the time to put into it. Does it have saves or codes?
I regret to say, I've never even booted it up.

I'm not playing Monbit. I don't know why, I've never even tried.

Faceball - I don't like the PCE version 1 bit. Than again I was never a huge faceball fan in general.
I've never played nectarsis, but I have played military madness - easy to learn game play and it has codes, I think you'll enjoy it. It just works well in general - a strategy game at it's best.

Drop Rock Hora Hora
I heard the JPN ver had some bizarre story/visual cutscenes that would make playing it worthwhile over the US version.
nope, still sucks.

Does it have cutscenes? I didn't know about this.
who could say? I purchased it long ago so the details are blurry. I can only get to the second level before the yawns completely take over and my mind wonders to something else. The only proof of cutscenes I actually have is what has already been documented on the internet, i.e. the intro:
perhaps the story continues as the game progresses? I just couldn't be bothered to find out tbh.

usually I swear by Sunteam Paul's ratings, but Drop Rock doesn't seem that bad. And it's hella cheap. Looks like a neat GT game.

Xanadu (first one). I did play the first area or "level", using the handy guides and stuff I found here, but I found the game very tiring with all it's running back and forth, and my general lack of experience with older RGPs coupled with that I had trouble deciphering where I should go next and ZERO engagement or interest for the story....somehow made it a bit dull. I did quite like the side scrolling boss bit & the music in some places tho'.
