Title: Here we go again
Post by: bob on February 07, 2013, 12:35:00 PM
Good luck to everyone in the storms path. Hunker down, get supplies, and have enough juice for the hand helds!   :D

Share some pics if you get walloped.

Only supposed to get 6"-12" here.  Sucks, but Buffalo, NY is not the epicenter for once!

That doesn't look bad at all. Hell the streets are practically clear. What's everyone in such a fuss about?

Yeah, pics don't capture it quite well.  Plows just got done.  Our official count was 30".  When I woke up today, I couldn't see my car. It was completely burried from the wind and snow drifts.

Back in '82 before the TurboGrafx-16 was released it snowed 4 feet in Denver and the mayor never bothered to send out the plows until it was too late. That was fun times. No mayor wants to make the same mistake so you'll see plows out in flurries here now.

I wish I could have seen that Joe!  Unfortunately I wasnt alive.  I do seem to remember growing up some big blizzard in 93 or so where we got some 30" or so in the Denver metro area.  Actually got a snow day on that one.

I have lived through two awful storms.  The first was in 2000 where we got around 9 feet of snow in 24 hours.  The second was the "October Surprise" in 2006 where we got about 5 feet of snow in 12 hours.  The October storm was the worst because the leave were still on the trees and the show was heavy, so all the trees in the area came down and destroyed houses, roads, and power lines.

The positive to those two freak storms happening is that now when we get a foot of snow, it isn't a big deal anymore.
